The best airports to fly into are Rome (Fiumicino Airport - FCO) or Florence (Florence Airport Peretola - FLR).

Arriving in Rome

To get to Cortona from the airport in Rome you can book a train to the Camucia Cortona stop. Tickets range from $25-$60 for one-way depending on if you have a transfer or not.

The journey is about 2.5 hours (if you select a direct train). For trains that require a change (transfer) timing can vary.

If you chose to rent a car and drive from FCO it is about 145 miles or a 2.5 hour trip.

Notes:

- Flights into Rome are generally cheaper and you are able to select a non-stop option.

- Train ride might be long (depending on transfers) but it will be scenic.

- There are trains directly out of the airport so you don't need to transfer to another station.

Arriving in Florence

From NY there aren't direct flights into Florence right now (but check prior to booking incase this changes). Therefore, you'd mostly likely fly into Rome and then transfer there for a short flight for Florence.

The journey from the Florene train station (SMN) to the Camucia-Cortona stop is about 1.5 hours by train. Tickets are around $15 for one-way. Note: You will need to exit the airport and travel to the train station (Florence SMN) . There is a tram (22 minutes) bus (27 minutes) or you can take a taxi (about 10 minutes).

For those who would want to rent a car from the airport in Florence its about 75 miles/1.5 hours.

- Therefore, you'd mostly likely fly into Rome and then transfer there for a short flight for Florence.

- You will need to take transport from the airport to the train station.

Multi-family villas that are a bit off the beaten path outside of town, and therefore quieter.

Highly recommended to have a car rental, considering you'd be walking a lot of hills to get into the venue without.
