The dress code is black-tie optional, between black tie and formal. Men have the option of wearing a tuxedo or formal suit and tie. Ladies should wear formal evening-wear equivalent, ex. floor length gown, suit, etc.
The bridal party will be wearing black. Please avoid wearing white, off-white, etc.
(please keep in mind our ceremony will be a Catholic wedding mass and dress appropriately)
if you need color inspo - suggested color scheme is deep, rich jewel tones!
In order to be able to find your seats and start on time please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the ceremony begins at 3.
The nearest parking lot is about a 3 minute walk, and the next nearest is about a 10 minute walk, so please account for walking times as you plan your trip!
There is a parking lot right next to the Basilica that is open to the parking on weekends, about a 3 minute walk away. In navigating to parking at the Basilica Lot the address is "A9, Notre Dame, IN 46556"
(Overflow parking at St. Liam's Lot "A15, Notre Dame, IN 46556" about a 5 minute walk)
(For those unable to walk distances, please see "accessibility" Q&A below)
In order to make it to these lots you will need to go through a gate manned by security, go down Notre Dame Ave (& get your cameras ready for a shot at the Dome!), turn left for Bookstore Parking, tell the guard you are heading to the Basilica Lot for a wedding, and then follow that road to the lots!
While I understand the urge to want to take pictures during the ceremony, our wedding is a celebration of the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony and the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, not a performance, and we want to see all your beautiful faces, not your cameras!
As pretty as my dress may be, please turn your phones off/keep them stashed away during the ceremony. We love our photographer, you will too, I promise.
(you may think you're being subtle, you're not, this is what it looks like for our photographer-and by extension this is what our professional photos will look like. Please, phones away)
Our wedding RSVP form will indicate all who is invited to attend.
If your children are invited to attend, please prepare them (and yourselves) that our ceremony will be a traditional Catholic Wedding Mass (1+ hour in a quiet & reverent environment) and we are hoping to party it up at the reception!
Both the ceremony & reception will be indoors, with some outside walking in between!
The Basilica has a parking lot next to it, with reserved ADA parking and a ramp to get from the parking lot up to the basilica, there is a door on the east side of the basilica that doesn't require stairs. There is also a small cul-de-sac ending right in front of the Basilica you can use to drop off and pick up anyone for whom walking may be a problem.
The reception at Embassy Suites will be taking place on the first floor, and will be stairless.
