Ooof, Delhi - This City of Heart! Our home-town. There is lots to see, do and eat in Delhi and as Delhiites, we have a few (too many) recommendations!
MUST VISIT
Dilli Haat INA
Humayun’s Tomb
Lotus Temple
Akshardham
Chandini Chowk (be prepared for absolute chaos) and take a rickshaw ride (be mindful of pickpockets!). Head to Jama Masjid - India’s largest mosque. You can combine this with a visit to Red Fort and stay for the light and sound show. (Chandini Chowk and Jama Masjid are included in Golden Triangle Tour)
Hauz Khas village - go through the laneways and you can make your way to the monuments and lake. Eat and drink at Social (it’s our favourite place and definitely try their 500ml / 1l Long Island iced tea 😉)
Shopping at Connaught Place, Khan Market or South Extension
FOOD
Although the wedding will be a BIG food affair, some of our favourite places to eat in Delhi include:
Gulati Restaurant on Pandara Road for the most authentic North Indian cuisine https://www.gulatirestaurant.co/
Social Hauz Khas - great pan-Indian fusion food and amazing flavours. Their cocktails are amazing! http://www.socialoffline.in/
If you want to try some street food but a bit more “safely”, you can try Haldiram’s for some authentic chaat (street food) to try dishes like gol gappe, chhole bhature, Raj kachori. There are many branches of Haldiram’s
Nukkad, in SDA - rustic theme, live music https://www.nukkaddelhi.com/
For a culturally-immersive experience, try Haveli Dharampura
For some delicious South Indian cuisine, try Naivedyam Hauz Khas Village
SHOPPING:
Here are some recommendations for Indian Ethnic-wear shopping:
Manyavar
FabIndia
Biba (For Women)
Global Desi (For Women)
Nalli Sarees (in South Ex)
Pernia’s Pop Up Mehrauli
Recommended Shopping Malls: Select CityWalk and DLF Avenue in Saket or DLF Promenade and Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj
STAY:
We would be so happy to host you in Delhi from 21st-23rd December. However, if you are staying in Delhi for longer, you could look into booking your stay somewhere in Central Delhi (near Connaught Place) or South Delhi (areas like Saket, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Green Park or Hauz Khas).
GETTING AROUND: You could try the Metro in Delhi to avoid traffic especially during peak hours, but it’s very convenient to get around with Uber and Ola with cabs or autos (tuk-tuk).
Our Recommended Local Taxi Service in Delhi: Manjit Taxi: ph# +919810001227 (Please give them the reference of Dr.Nag)
You could also hire a private taxi to Agra/Jaipur
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions at all!
