Our Wedding

The odds seemed stacked against them at first. Not only did they meet mere weeks before the COVID pandemic kicked off, but Duncan flew back from Asia with a cough and had to quarantined as a “patient zero” for weeks! But even amidst the separation, they knew something was there. Their second date was supposed to just be a quick coffee, but next thing they knew they were getting kicked out of the mall for its midnight closing time. A couple of years later, they welcomed their first (feline) child into the world. These days, things have settled into a blissful rhythm. April’s favourite part of the day is seeing her husband-to-be’s car in the driveway when she drives home, because that means she’s in for a big hug. Duncan is surprised again and again by April’s seemingly endless hidden talents: gardening, home renovations, and even making a world-class tiramisu. Their latest venture? Couple’s dance lessons (well, mostly lessons for Duncan that April gets to watch). April and Duncan are humbled by the opportunity to celebrate their love with friends and family in the most beautiful place in the world.

Hillery is April's oldest sister. Hillery loves to travel, kayak, and walk the Halifax harborfront. She lives full-time in Halifax, NS, and is a member of the Royal Canadian Navy.  Through Hillary's career with the Navy, she's seen every corner of the world, from crossing the Arctic to the coral reefs of Australia. April is always happy to hear about her most recent adventures at sea.

Hillery Dillon

Laura is April's middle sister. She lives on the Southern Shore with her husband Nick and their son Julien.  Laura and April are very close sisters who talk on the phone twice a day every day since April moved to Alberta. April was Laura's maid of honor in her 2024 wedding. Ever since Laura and Nick welcomed their son into the world, April has fallen in love with being an aunt. As for Laura, she is now back to work as an outpatient nurse.

Calli is Duncan's youngest sibling and only sister. Calli and April became great friends after meeting for the first time in 2022 and can often be found sharing an order of McDonald's fries. She and Duncan enjoy watching classic episodes of The Simpsons together, as well as teaming up to defeat their dad in various wargames. Calli is an avid equestrian and photographer. Calli currently lives in St. Albert, AB, and is a full-time student completing her Bachelor of Science.

April and Angelina met in 2006 when they were paired to sit together on the school bus.  April and Angelina's favorite thing to do together is to knit and drink iced coffee. She and Duncan prefer to listen to dadrock and maybe push April's buttons. April will be the maid of honor in Angelina's wedding in August 2026 when she marries her fiancé, Mark. Angelina currently lives in Paradise, NL, and works as a pastry chef.

Cassie and April became friends in 2016 at their summer job at The Signal Hill Tattoo. Since then, Cassie and April have enjoyed trying new restaurants together and playing board games with Duncan and Cassie's parents. Cassie currently lives in Mount Pearl, NL, and works as an architectural engineering technologist.

Haley and April became friends through their mutual friends in 2016. Together, they enjoy spending time at Haley and Sarah's cabin. April stood as one of Haley's bridesmaids in her 2023 wedding to her husband Jon. In 2025, Haley and Jon welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Isabelle. Haley currently lives in Ottawa, ON, and works as a Naval Architectural Engineer.

Sarah and April became friends while both working as fife players in The Signal Hill Tattoo band in 2016. April was honored to be one of Sarah's bridesmaids in her 2024 wedding to her husband, noted fantasy hockey expert Mitchell Joyce. Sarah currently lives in Goulds, NL, and works as a high school math and technology teacher.

Braden is Duncan's middle brother. As kids you could catch them playing street-hockey, "gladiators", "the bomb game", or various other made-up activities. These days you would be more likely to find them playing Super Smash Bros, where Braden refuses to play as anyone not named Captain Falcon. Duncan was Braden's groomsman in 2024 when he married his lovely wife, Isabelle. Braden currently lives in Edmonton and works as a pilot.

Keaton is Duncan's youngest brother. As children they were formidable Yu-Gi-Oh rivals and as adults they have travelled to many corners of the world together. They've survived hostel kidney stone incidents and braved some of the meanest street corners in Ireland.  April and Keaton's partner Gracie (a Newfoundlander herself) have become fast friends.
Keaton currently lives in Edmonton, AB, and works as physiotherapist and amateur aquariumist.

Keaton MacIver

Nick became April's brother-in-law when he married Laura in 2024. They got to know each other better in group isolation during the COVID pandemic. Nick and Duncan share a love of Newfoundland shellfish and have been known to commiserate on the joys of living with the Dillon women. Together, they average out to around the second biggest Rush fan on Earth. Nick is the proud father of Julien, currently lives in Mobile, NL, and is an ocean scientist/first mate.

Rory is April's youngest sibling and only brother. Together, Rory and April enjoy taking their family dog for a walk.  Rory hopes to one day match Duncan's snowboarding skills, while Duncan has given up on trying to match Rory's beer drinking ability. As for April, you would be more likely to find her hanging out at the ski lodge spa. Rory currently lives in Mobile, NL, and is kept busy working as a milwright. 

Rory Dillon

Will and Duncan met in high school and grew up together in St. Albert, AB. They became roommates in Edmonton while attending the University of Alberta together. On one occasion, they allegedly blew off weeks of combined academic responsibilities to watch an entire season of "Always Sunny" and eat Jelly Bellies. Will completed his PhD in political science in 2023. Will and his wife Janice, live in Oshawa, ON, where Will works as an assistant professor at Huron University.

William Kujala

Nathan and Duncan met in 2014 as first-year medical students. They later became roommates in 2016, and subsequently watched "Jeopardy" together during their one weekly hour of free time. They often rock climb together and were briefy on the same side of a rap beef. Duncan and April met Nathan's wife Claire, when they lived in Vancouver. Nathan and Claire now live in Edmonton where Nathan works as a Neurologist specializing in movement disorders.

Julien was born on January 18th, 2025, becoming the first grandchild of the Dillon family. Julien is the sweetest, most curious little guy. Julien's favorite activities include eating blackberries, watching Ms. Rachel, and splashing in the bathtub. Julien lives in Mobile, NL with his Mom and Dad, Laura and Nick Power. Julien has been tirelessly practicing his role as ring bearer and is sure to steal the show.
