Beaches

Picture of Beaches

The best part about living in Souther California is the beach! There are so many to choose from. If you are in San Clemente, the pier is a great spot; although, can be very closed out. If you are in Oceanside, the pier (never a bad idea), the harbor, or Pine St. If you are in Carlsbad, we recommend Tamarack State Beach, Teramar, or Ponto State Beach. If you are in Encinitas check out Moonlight Beach, Beacons Beach, or Cardiff State Beach. There are tons of surf rentals long the coast and if you might want to use our gear we can try to accomodate!

Hiking

Even though Southern California is coastal, there are plenty of opportunities to hike! Torrey Pines Nature Preserve is a wonderful spot and right on the ocean. You can also venture to Mt Baldy or Mt Wilson (this is great for photo ops, as it's home to potato chip rock). There is also Lake Calaveras, which is only a few minutes from our home!

Animals

San Diego is known for it's incredible Zoo, the Safari Park, and Sea World. There is also the world renowned Birch Aquarium. You can also perch up on the bluffs of Torrey Pines and watch for Great White Sharks- the juveniles are known to cruise the waters around this area.

Nourishment

Southern California has an amazing array of food and beverages (trust us- after a year in New Hampshire, we feel so fortunate to have so many options). There are several wineries and breweries in each of the cities we have recommended. We highly recommend trying Soltera Winery in Encinitas. Try Juanitas in Encinitas for great burritos. For coffee and pastries try Pannikin (both in Encinitas and Oceanside). If you need any more recommendations please ask! Or just go for a walk and you will find so many options.
