We met working for José Andrés. Ellen was a marketing specialist at Jaleo Crystal City and Andre was running Pepe Food Truck, which operated out of the same restaurant. Only later would we learn that we grew up just 10 minutes from each other in New Jersey, and our parents still live that close today! A mutual friend told Ellen that Andre "thought she was cute" (wow, we really were in our young 20's! Thanks for that, Hannah Lobel). Andre worked up the courage to ask Ellen to join a "group hang," then we made follow up plans for a real date. Andre came on that date with a head injury from a scary car accident, but concussed or not he was committed!

That first date was pretty great — we spent time at what would become our favorite farmers market, went to Union Market and the Humane Society to play with cats (foreshadowing much?!), did a ThinkFoodGroup dine around, and the rest was history.
