Emma was a zookeeper here for 4 years! It was an internship here that brought her to the Hampton Roads area back in 2018. Make sure to say hi to the white cheeked gibbons, Malayan tigers, and moon bear for her <3
There may not be much blooming in February, but the gardens are a beautiful place to walk about. It's also very close to the airport, so it is an easy detour if you've got time to kill before or after your flights.
Chase and Emma have spent many, many hours running the trails here winding through the swamps and Chesapeake Bay. It's also where Chase proposed!
The Nauticus Museum and USS Wisconsin are popular attractions near Downtown Norfolk and Harbor Park.
The Chrysler Museum is a great way to spend a few hours indoors only a short walk from the Martin Mansion. They have an excellent permanent collection in addition to rotating exhibits that are always worth checking out. Take a look at the glass studio, too, if it's open! Zinnia Cafe is located inside if you're looking for coffee or a sandwich with your art.
Located in Norfolk between the Chrysler Museum and Nauticus, is the Freemason District. Cobblestone roads line the historic neighborhood where you can walk to quirky shops, cafes, and rest in the Pagoda garden. There's usually some good dog-spotting, too.
Colley Avenue is another quaint section of Ghent full of unique small-businesses. Some of our favorite stops are Fair Grounds for coffee, La Brioche for pastries, Pendulum for sandwiches, Le Marche for French-inspired home goods, Kitsch for quirky gifts and jewelry, Running Etc. for all of our running gear, or Luna Maya for margaritas. Naro Expanded Cinema has been operating since 1977 and is especially unique for its theatre-style seating AND for being where Chase's parents met!
