FAQ

Questions You May Ask!

Q: Is it possible to stay at the Camp Lochearn for just one night?

A: Yes, the rate is $40 per person. BUT you should really come up Friday night if you can swing it; we'll have tons of fun activities and a great dinner for everyone that night as well.

Q: How do we sign up for a spot in a cabin at Camp Lochearn?

A: You can sign-up by clicking here

Q: I want to stay in a cabin with certain friends and family... how can I make sure I stay with them?

A: We will use our very best judgement to place you with friends and family that make the most sense. Please email us if you have a special request that we wouldn't otherwise think of.

Q. Am I going to have to spend the night in a crowded cabin with 11 other people?

A. No. Unless you want to! We have WAY more than enough room in the cabins and they will be less than half full unless groups of family members or friends would like to pile in together for fun. Family units, groups of friends, and even some couples will have their own space.

Q: Do the cabins have electricity?

A: Yes, the cabins have electricity.

Q. Are there bathrooms in the cabins?

A. No, all of the bathrooms are centrally located beneath the dining hall and feature private showers with private changing areas.

Q. Can I pitch a tent instead?

A. Yes, BUT, the only good place to pitch tents is pretty far from the main hub bub of the event. Also, everyone staying on camp grounds has to pay the same fee, even if you're opting for a tent over a cabin. Make an Eventbrite reservation as if you were staying in a cabin, but then just let us know. If you're concerned about privacy, check with us first. Many people are already drafted to be in private or nearly-private cabins anyway.

Q. How's cell service in and around camp?

A. Poor to non-existent. Plan to unplug for the weekend and print out google maps directions in advance.

Q. What about wifi?

A. Nopity nope.

Q. What number should I give my family to call if there's an emergency at home?

A. The landline at camp is 802-333-4211

Q: Is transportation being provided from camp to offsite accommodations after the reception?

A: No, we will not be organizing transportation Saturday night. If you plan on drinking we suggest you stay on the camp grounds. It's the most comfortable camping you'll ever do!

Q: I'm staying at an off site location... can I still join the meals at camp?

A: Yes! Everyone should register for which meals at camp they plan to attend when they rsvp so we can order the right amount of food. By which we mean bacon. And pie.

Q: How do I get my cabin assignments? How do I find my cabin?

A: We will have a check-in station on Friday from 12pm - 5pm. At the station you will receive your cabin assignments. We will have signs to make it easy to find out where to check-in. We will also provide maps for easy navigation to your cabin along with camp counselors (ie the bridal party) .

Q: Do I need to bring bedding?

A: Yes, you will need to bring a pillow, a sleeping bag or sheets, and a towel for the weekend. There is no heat in the cabins so it's a good idea to bring a warm blanket. You never know in Vermont!

Q: I am traveling via airplane/train/bus... will you have bedding I can use?

A: Yes! We are happy to rent linens for anyone who is unable to bring their own at a cost of $15 per person. Please include this when making your cabin reservation. Note that the linen service does not rent pillows, so you should pack a travel or camping pillow to use instead.

Q. What's the dress code for a summer camp wedding?

A. Summertime chic! Light colored suits, khakis, knee length dresses - note that ladies will want to wear flats or wedges!

Q: What activities are at Camp Lochearn?

A: The camp allows us access to tennis, canoeing, swimming, kayaks and lawn games. There are hiking and mountain bike trails in the area and we will also be organizing activities for the weekend.

Q: I'm staying at camp... what should I bring?

A: Must: Bedding (pillow, sheets, blankets OR sleeping bag), a towel, reusable water bottle, bathing suit, rain gear (just in case), flashlight or headlamp

Optional: Yoga mat, camp chair, light piece of fabric to use as a curtain, any sporting equipment or lawn games you'd like to play with

Q: I'm NOT staying at camp... what should I bring?

A: Much of the same!

Must: Reusable water bottle, bathing suit and towel (if you plan to swim), rain gear

Optional: Yoga mat, camp chair, any sporting equipment or lawn games you'd like to play with

Q. Is smoking allowed in camp?

A. No, smoking is not allowed anywhere in camp. Please plan accordingly when making your lodging reservations.

Q. I'm interested in carpooling, is there a ride share board?

A. Yes! Fill it out here.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Sorry no; our contract allows us only one dog and the weekend shall be Maggie Mae's domain.

Q: Can you accommodate my food allergy?

A: Please notify us about any allergies in advance to the wedding. We will do our very best to accommodate you.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: We will still get married. This is New England... you never know what the weather will bring so please be prepared with layers, including a rain coat. The ceremony and many activities will move indoors if mother nature decides to be a jerk.
