We were the first people each other met at LSU! We were grouped together at an engineering camp before the start of classes and became study buddies by default. There was no romance involved at the time because I was off the market and didn't have a thing for cowboys! - Erin

As study buddies formed into a deeper friendship over the years, we went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans together with some mutual friends. We both liked each other, but neither of us admitted it. Erin didn't realize at the time, but I was there for her! - David

By this point we'd been dating for about one month, making it official on April 2nd, 2022. I'm grateful he didn't ask me on April Fools' Day because I probably wouldn't have believed him! - Erin

We both received the sacrament of Confirmation after going through RCIA together all year. This was such a formational time on our road to sainthood and we're so grateful to have experienced it together. Christ the King has always been and always will be such a special parish to us!

This was the two of us at our friends Jean-Paul and Emily's wedding - one of the many we went to that summer! This one in particular, however, changed how soon I planned to get down on one knee. - David

What a day! This one was a long time coming, but I certainly didn't think it would be so soon. I was attending the monthly meeting of a men's group at my college church, Christ the King, and I received some very necessary advice. I was strongly encouraged to toss aside my original plan to wait until I could afford a much larger ring and to just buy what I could and propose before leaving for Charleston. This conversation took place on Monday, February 5th, and we left for Charleston on the 9th. Needless to say, I was a busy man! I took time off from work, made arrangements to drive to Shreveport from Baton Rouge to speak with her father, and planned the whole thing in three days! Thankfully, we already had dinner planned at our favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge as a going away date, so it was easy enough for everything to fall into place. Since I opted to propose in front of the altar at the church where we both grew so close to one another, I was able to convince her to "let me see it one last time before leaving" without too much trouble. I was excited to ask her at Christ the King because I thought if it couldn't be on a mountain somewhere like I initially planned, it should be at the altar, where we would both start and end our engagement! So after careful planning to ensure the sanctuary was empty and a lot of help from my brother, the photographer hiding around the corner, and many others at Christ the King, I was able to pop the question without her ever knowing it was coming! And don't worry, in case you thought I forgot, I was also able to take her to get a manicure beforehand under the guise of a Valentine's Day gift! After everything was said and done, I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was such a beautiful way to begin our engagement! - David

This was the start of many more visits to Charleston. I would visit David anywhere in the world, but his being in Charleston really is such a treat! - Erin
