The Poconos have endless lakes, but the most famous is Lake Wallenpaupack, located just a 15 minute drive south of Honesdale. It is the largest artificial lake in Pennsylvania. It is surrounded by miles of hiking trails, has public beaches, and several companies offer charter boat trips and rentals on the lake.
If so, then this will be a real treat for you. Honesdale is the site of where the very first train to operate in the US hit the rails. It is called the Stourbridge Lion and a replica (the Smithsonian has the real one) can be found at the Wayne County Historical Society, right on Main Street.
While the Lion no longer runs, the Stourbridge Line is a train that runs from Honesdale through neighboring Hawley, offering sight-seeing opportunities and excursions through the area's scenic landscape and historical and cultural sites.

Honesdale is very cute, ok? If you like going into stores and contemplating buying the things in them, maybe getting a coffee or bubble tea partway through this activity, maybe petting some animals who live in the stores, then you can definitely kill a few hours on Main Street.
Yes this is a real thing. Lorenzo Grambs (1825 - 1907) was a judge in Honesdale and had an enormous family, many members of which are buried in the Dyberry Cemetery in Honesdale. One of his kids had a kid who had a kid who had a kid who had a kid who is Esther's mother. Look for a plot with an obelisk in the center and a short fence surrounding it. Don't anger any old family spirits.
