*** Ithaca is Gorges! ***
Walking distance from the reception is Ithaca Falls. Right before our first official date, we went here with some food and sat talking for hours.
Along the same river is also Triphammer Falls and Beebe lake, which is beautiful to walk or run around.
About a 15 minute drive is Robert H. Treman State Park, which has a nice hike with gorgeous waterfall views. There’s also a swimming hole under a waterfall at the bottom. Admission is $10 cash per car.
Slightly further out is Watkins Glen, which also has beautiful waterfalls. The Watkins Glen State Park is so beautiful that it was in travel advertisements on the NYC subway all the time.
About 2 hours away is Letchworth State Park. It’s far, but worth it if you have the time! It’s nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the East.
Not a waterfall, but you can go swimming at East Shore Park in Cayuga Lake. Right after we agreed to go on our first date, but before the date itself, we went swimming here!
*** Food and Drinks! ***
We also love to eat, and know you probably do too.
The Boatyard Grill is right on the lake, and is really nice to get drinks at. This is where we had our first date!
The Ithaca Farmers Market has almost a cult following. It’s right on the water, and has food, coffee, handmade shops, and normal farmers market items. It’s fun to walk around!
The Ithaca Commons has multiple restaurants and things to do. Some good ones are Mercato, Mia, and Ithaca Ale House. Bike Bar is also there, where we used to hang out a lot during the pandemic and where we met in person for the first time!
Six Mile Creek Vineyard is really nice to sit at and do a wine tasting!
Salt Point Brewing Co. has got great beer and pizza, and a beautiful outdoor space to sit!
South Hill Cider is a great winery with beautiful vineyard views, a good wine assortment for tastings, and good food to snack on!
To finish it off with some dessert, Purity Ice Cream is a crowd favorite! Definitely worth checking out.
