Things To Do on San Juan Island

How-to Get Around

Rent a vehicle at Susie’s Mopeds. It’s a great way to buzz around the island, particularly if you don’t have a car. A “FUV” (fun utility vehicle) has just enough charge to make it around the entire loop of the island. Be sure to reserve in advance. Helpful tip: you cannot keep the vehicle for multiple days at a time, each night it must be returned to Susie’s. Keep this in mind if you choose to stay outside of Friday Harbor’s downtown core.

Hop the San Juan Bus, which stops at almost every top destination around the island.

Things To Do

Head to Roche Harbor, a beautiful and historic resort on the island's northwest shore. They have a decent spot for brunch and some cute shops.

Check out the many beautiful parks on the island: English Camp, Lime Kiln State Park, and American Camp are a few key ones.

Visit the Pelindaba Lavender farm, try the many lavender-based items on their menu, including lavender ice cream and lavender lemonade!

Go on a whale-watching tour or a fishing excursion or sunset cruise

Lavendera massage

Shop in downtown Friday Harbor

Restaurant Recommendations

Rocky Bay Cafe is a great spot for breakfast. They don’t take reservations, so be prepared for a long wait, and if you have a large party you may need to split into multiple groups.

Westcott Bay Shellfish Company - an amazing oyster farm that’s perfect for lunch.

Duck Soup - an upscale restaurant in an adorable cabin. It’s far from town, so plan to call a cab or drive.

Lime Kiln Cafe - at Roche Harbor. It’s very casual (serving food via a cafeteria-style line) but the food is great and the views of the harbor make it a fun option, especially for a large group.
