Our Story

How we met

It Started With An App

Early in 2022 both Felicia and David independently saw a TikTok video that made them laugh. The creator of the TikTok had created a new dating app that she was promoting and looking for the first users to test it out. They downloaded it and on February 17th 2022 they matched!

A Sun and A Piano

The app didn't use pictures, instead it used emojis. The rules were simple, you must text and have one phone call through the app before you could reveal your profile. Felicia, the sunshine, and David, the piano, were introduced and started chatting. After days going back and forth learning they were both working in healthcare and musicians they decided to schedule a phone call through the app. Felicia, ever practical, said she would block out 30 minutes for David at 10:00pm....3 hours later at 1:00am she told him she had to go to sleep because she had work in the morning. Before she went to sleep she pressed the "reveal" button knowing he had pressed it too. She drifted off to sleep with David's last message "you're absolutely beautiful" dancing around her head.

A year in the life

Felicia and David continued to talk on the phone through the app, eventually exchanging numbers and talking off the app. David visited Felicia in Louisville and she visited him in Indianapolis. They continued to go back and forth quickly realizing this was something long lasting. Through match day, David's DNP graduation, Felicia's MD graduation, a move to Cleveland for residency, countless Sounds of Summer shows, holidays, birthdays, and very regular boring days they learned what it was like to do life together.

The Proposal

Felicia is type A and way too talkative when enjoying wine. True to type A form Felicia explained to David and his whole family what she wanted in a proposal. David, in his first act as a gracious husband, did exactly everything she said.

David secretly flew into Cleveland and left a fancy red dress in Felicia's house for her to find. He enlisted his family and her family and friends to fly/drive in and help with the surprise. She cried many, many happy tears that night. (But David cried first, and there is video evidence of that ha!)
