By now I’m sure all of you know our story, but for those of you who are curious…

Our story began in 2013. We first met at Joseph’s father’s church in San Angelo, Texas but did not have an immediate connection.

In the second semester of the school year, God placed Joseph in Genie’s Spanish class.

After initially being unimpressed by the Joseph's failed attempts of humor and romance, we began our journey as friends. Upon getting to know each other better, the relationship quickly grew and it was evident we were destined for something more.

Though our story was just beginning, Joseph decided to go to university in Canada with his brother, and we maintained a long-distance relationship for seven years (still don't recommend to a friend lol!).

Of course, this period was filled with a unique set of challenges, but we were able to grow our special partnership through daily FaceTime calls, trips all across North America, and making lifelong memories together.

Fast forward to 2021, we finally reconnected in the same city, when Genie began her nursing journey in Austin, Texas.

Still, no ring…

After Genie graduated nursing school in December of 2022, Joseph promised he would take her to a destination of her choice for a graduation present.

Yup, she picked Vegas baby!

On that trip, eight years and nine months after their first date, Joseph finally proposed.

Neither of us could have predicted this fairy tale ten years ago, but we thank God for writing this beautiful story.

We are looking forward to sharing the next chapter together with you, all of our closest friends and family.
