We are so excited to show you the small town that we have come to know as home! Don't let the location make you think that there is not much going on in town - because trust us, there is plenty! When you have some time outside of wedding festivities, we encourage you to explore the town and learn more about why we love it so much! All of the places on this list are downtown and walkable from the Cedarburg hotels.
Java House is one of our favorite little coffee shops in Cedarburg. There's room to sit inside, but we recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and exploring the downtown area.
One of our favorite things about Java House is the variety of options they have. With over fifty flavors of lattes, smoothies, boba, matcha, chai, and tea, everyone in your crew should be able to find something they like. You can also pick up bubble waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and bakery items if you are hungry.
On the theme of coffee shops, it is hard to go wrong with Fiddleheads. This coffee shop is great if you are traveling with a slightly larger group and looking for a place to sit. If you are looking to pick up breakfast or lunch this spot has great options. Additionally, they offer outdoor seating if you are looking for some fresh air.
Hailey's pick: Check out their bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and asking for it to be made with a bagel instead (fair warning for the New Yorkers, it's not a New York bagel but still amazing).
Matt's pick: You really can't beat the buffalo chicken sandwich. Super fresh, light, and a good way to start the day.
Looking for dinner? Look no further than Lime Cantina. This restaurant is great for smaller and larger groups and their food is great every time. Lime Cantina is open until 9 pm and has a full service bar if you are in need of a drink to relax from travel excitement. Everything is made in-house - including all chips, salsas, drink syrups, and drink mixes. We would recommended checking out their spin on nachos - while not traditional, they have yet to disappoint us!
Matt's note: Heavily recommend the spicy blood orange mule. Throw a shot or two of tequila in there - chef's kiss.
Looking to grab a piece of pizza? Go to Sal's. From friendly employees to amazing pizza, you cannot go wrong. Sal's sells pizzas by the slice, so go right ahead and grab one. They've also got plenty of room to sit down if you want to nosh on some fantastic garlic knots. Matt always makes sure he stops in at Sal's just so he can talk to the guys working at the counter about recent goings-on in the WWE.
Hailey's pick: New Yorkers might think the idea of this is nuts - but go with the mac and cheese pizza.
Matt's pick: Sal's is the first pizza spot I've found in the state of Wisconsin that tastes exactly like New York pizza. Nowhere else have I been able to find the same quality - and I've been out here for over five years. The spinach and feta slice is heaven on dough.
Looking for a free activity to do in town and learn more about the place we call home? Check out the Cedarburg History Museum! Cedarburg was founded in the early 1840s by Irish and German immigrants who were lured to the potential of hydro power from Cedar Creek. Inside the museum, you'll find historical artifacts and pictures of the town dating back almost two full centuries.
Looking to go on a nice walk or run? Check out the Interurban Trail. Spanning over 30 miles, the trail travels though Cedarburg and the towns north and south. It travels over the river, through the woods, and even past horse stables and cow farms. This trail is frequented by couples going on walks, bike riders, children, and lots of dogs. It even goes right though downtown! We would recommend entering the trail just behind the library and taking it south for as far as you're willing to walk.
If you are looking more to relax and explore, Cedarburg has a wide variety of shopping options! Explore the main street and all its fun little shops. On the north end of the main strip, you can find the gem store (fun rock shop), an indoor mall, an olive oil store, and a variety of cute boutiques. Midway down the main strip you will find a host of candy stores, some toy stores, wineries, and cozy home and garden shops.
This spot means the world to us, since it's where Matt proposed to Hailey in February 2025. The Lion's Den Gorge trail offers gorgeous views of Lake Michigan, with paths looping around the cliffside. For those who want to grab some fresh air, there's nowhere better in the area than Lion's Den.
