It all began in a basement classroom at OHSUs Accelerated Nursing Program. Ted and Haily both uprooted their lives to move to Ashland, Oregon back in 2016 in pursuit of a nursing degree. Some of their first memories together took place in these classrooms, specifically the simulation lab where Ted asked Haily to practice assessments on one another...bold move, Theodore. They recall laughing and joking around with each other more than actually learning anything from these simulation labs. This was the start to their friendship that continued to grow throughout the nursing program and beyond.
Once graduating, both Ted and Haily started their nursing careers in the Critical Care Units on nightshift at a local hospital. Their bond grew stronger during this sleep deprived, stressful and crazy learning curve of an environment as new hires. They found comfort and an understanding of what each other was going through.
After much denial of there being something more than just friendship, the two of them started to explore what could be. Their first unofficial date was paddle boarding on the Rogue River followed by dinner at Brickroom where both of them peppered each other with lifes big questions. It was here the dynamic shifted. For their first official date, Ted invited Haily up to his familys cabin at Rocky Point. Ted pulled out all the stops including taking Haily sailing, making a very-well done steak dinner and stargazing. It was that night, on the dock that Ted and Haily decided to not let the fear of potentially losing their friendship outweigh the chance to have a beautiful love story together. And the rest is history!
One thing that drew these two together is their love of adventure. Over the last 4 years, Ted and Haily have skied all over the PNW, rafted the Grand Canyon, road tripped through Norway, surfed in Costa Rica and all the adventures in-between AND they still love each other!
This last year in particular has been full of highs and lows for Ted and Haily. Surgeries, new careers, planning a wedding and buying their first home has been a whirlwind. But what they have learned through this crazy season of life is there is no one else they would rather have by their side.
