Do I need a passport?
YES!
If you have never traveled outside the United States, please note that getting a passport takes time. We suggest starting the process now. If you already have a passport, check the expiration date. If your passport expires within 6 months of your travel dates, you will need to renew it prior to traveling.
In addition, if you plan on traveling in the EU (European Union) countries before or after the wedding, you will be required to get a travel visa starting summer 2024. Serbia is not in the EU therefore you don't need one to go there. BUT we highly suggest making the most of your trip and seeing other countries why you are over there.
Do I need a Travel Visa?
If you are ONLY traveling to Serbia, no you do not. However, if you plan on traveling before or after the wedding to any countries that are in the EU (European Union) then YES YOU WILL need to get a travel visa. This policy starts summer 2024.
What will the weather be like this time of year?
Average weather during this time of the year is 60-78. Historically, it rarely drops below 52deg or above 90deg. However, always be prepared for a hot day as there is not always air conditioning.
What should I wear?
We are requesting a formal dress code.
Men: we are not expecting tuxedos, however a nice suit is preferred.
Ladies: we suggest cocktail style dress, long dress, or even a jumpsuit.
Please do not wear jeans or shorts.
Am I allowed to bring a date?
Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We are only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
Are children invited?
Although we would love to include your children, we ask that only those who are named on the invitation attend.
Where does the ceremony and reception take place?
The ceremony is taking place at a Serbian Orthodox Church.
Traditionally, there are no chairs for the service inside the church and everyone stands during the service. Typical service lasts about 45 minutes.
We will make accommodations for those who have difficulty standing for a longer duration. Please let us know if this is something you are worried about and we can make arrangements for you.
Men and women will be required to stand on separate sides of the church. This is respectful to the church and we ask that you follow this custom.
The reception will take place north of the church, at Kalemegdanska Teresa. This location is an old fortress from 200 B.C. It is a 20 minute walk, however it is up a hill and we don't suggest walking in your nice outfits :)
What happens after the ceremony?
We will have a cocktail hour set up at our reception venue following the ceremony.
How do I get to the venues?
Please arrange transportation from your hotel to the church site. You can order a taxi or set up transportation through your hotel. After the church ceremony there is an hour break before the start of cocktails. This will allow you time to walk to a cafe or refresh at your hotel. You will be within walking distance to the reception site from the church, with cafes nearby. However if it is really warm or you don't want to walk in your shoes, we suggest ordering transportation.
For those who are staying for family photos, there will be a shuttle from the church to the reception area.
What kind of food and drink will be served?
A variety of foods served buffet style. Drink provided are beer, wine, and spirits.
Will my phone work?
We suggest using international data while you are traveling. Average international add-on is $10/day. Set this up prior to traveling. WIFI is available at most places as well.
