Traditions

Never been to a Danish wedding?

There are some traditions you will probably like to be aware of before our special day.

Firstly, Danish weddings continue all day and night. The "party" will be kicking off at roughly 11.30pm. Pace yourselves Brits!

Secondly, during the "wedding breakfast" everyone is welcomed to give a speech. We hope that many of you would like to say something, raise a cheer and tell some stories about us. Please contact our toast master, if you would like to give a speech.

Thirdly, if the bride or groom leaves the other alone (even for a quick toilet break) tradition allows all the gentleman or ladies in the room to grant a kiss to the bride or groom who is left alone. Keep your eyes peeled and form a queue to grab your kiss!

Fourthly, chinking of glasses is not just about speeches... it requires the bride and groom to kiss on top of the table. This is usually followed by stamping of feet, which requires us to kiss under the table.

We encourage you to be open and ready to experience being Danish for the weekend.

Never been to an English wedding?

Firstly, there will be bridesmaids and groomsmen, as is the tradition in England. These guys and gals have been carefully selected as our most treasured friends, we would love you to get to know them.

Secondly, our vows will be given in the traditional English way... a slightly elongated version of "ja".
