Greg and Jackie first met in October 2018 through an online dating app. Thanks to a routine Android update, Jackie’s phone accidentally turned off her location-spoofing app. Instead of appearing on Bumble in San Francisco, she suddenly showed up locally in St. Catharines, Ontario - proof that sometimes the best things happen when plans don’t go as expected.
It took six weeks before Jackie and Greg finally met in person. But their first date quickly revealed what would become the foundation of their relationship: curiosity, honesty, and a genuine desire to understand one another. Jackie’s thoughtful questions—shaped by her mother’s career with the Waterloo Regional Police, as well as Jackie’s own experience as a matchmaker, and a career in recruitment - met Greg’s calm, steady presence Though different in many ways, they quickly discovered how beautifully they balance one another, forming a partnership strengthened by those differences.
Together, Greg and Jackie share a love for travel and discovering new cultures—especially through food and wine. Whether exploring new places or simply sharing a meal at home, they find joy in learning from one another. Their conversations flow easily from world politics and business to technology, sports, and entrepreneurial pursuits, often stretching late into the evening.
In March 2024, Greg popped the question. While on their way to Waterloo to celebrate birthdays and Easter with Jackie’s family, Greg suggested a late lunch at their favourite Italian restaurant, Casa Toscana, where he had quietly arranged for the moment to be captured on video. While waiting for her meal, Jackie wandered into the attached Bottega to pick up fresh pasta, wine, and a few irresistible treats for family and friends. When she returned to the table - shopping complete - Greg asked the question and she said yes!
As they begin this next chapter together, Greg and Jackie celebrate their love and are deeply grateful to be surrounded by their closest family and friends on this special day.
