Our Story

photo

Jacob and Alyssa's story began at Ohio State, where two biomedical engineering students kept finding themselves in the same places-8am statistics classes, their research lab (where Alyssa once taught Jacob how to suture), and even guarding each other on the basketball court. What started as friendship quickly became something more.

For weeks, Jacob (with some encouragement from his best friend, Div) tried to convince Alyssa to come to their parties. She always said no; until Jacob discovered one of her secrets: she never backs down from a challenge. One night he teased, "I'd invite you over, but I bet you won't make it." With a smile, Alyssa replied, "Bet. See you in 15." From that moment on, they were inseparable.

Their senior year was filled with laughter, adventures, and spending every day together. And even when Alyssa left for Florida to pursue her graduate degree in prosthetics, long distance only made their bond stronger. They cherished their Florida trips and the quiet certainty that what they had was rare and lasting.

On Alyssa's birthday, they got the call they'd both been praying for; he had been accepted to their dream medical school, right back where it all started: The Ohio State University. At the same time, Alyssa landed her own dream jobs in Columbus (yes, the cookie bakery and her prosthetics career), and together they cherished exploring Grandview while supporting each other through the hardest parts of their training.

Years later, Jacob and Alyssa brought everything full circle. On the same path they once walked to their research lab together, surrounded by friends and family, he got down on one knee. Alyssa said yes. And as time and change will surely show, their love will only continue to grow.

Wedding Party

Kendalyn Miles
Kendalyn Miles - Matron of Honor
Kendalyn is my matron of honor and the oldest sister who has always been the best role model to Rachael and me. She kept us in line growing up and helped lead the way for us. She has always been there for me and still is, helping with whatever I need. She is also the most amazing mom to Adalyn and Callahan, my favorite niece and nephew. I will always cherish growing up and being competitive in sports together. Thank you, Ken, for paving the way for us!
Rachael Smith
Rachael Smith - Matron of Honor
Rachael my 2nd Matron of honor has always been by my side. She’s the crafty and talented one, always down to play sports, visit wineries, and watch a game with me. She’s not just my sister but one of my closest friends, and I’m so thankful for all the fun memories we’ve shared and continue to make.
Hannah McFeeters
Hannah McFeeters - Bridesmaid
Hannah is Jacob’s sister, but over the years she has become one of my best friends and now my bridesmaid. She’s always there for me, no matter what I need. Fun, pure-hearted, brilliant, and talented, Hannah keeps life active and exciting—whether it’s getting margs, playing sports, or working out together. She even trained for a half marathon with me, and I couldn’t have done it without her. I’m so lucky to be gaining such an amazing sister-in-law!
Katelyn Sette
Katelyn Sette - Bridesmaid
Katelyn is my best friend and now bridesmaid, and I met her through Jacob while he was going through medical school. She’s always down for a good time—even when she has no time, she makes time for the people she cares about. Katelyn is the friend who shows up for all the special moments in my life, whether it’s a Halloween party I’m hosting, helping throw my surprise engagement, or cheering me on during a half marathon. We clicked instantly over her country roots and love for fun, adventurous things—like riding her dad’s new motorcycle. I’m so thankful to Jacob for introducing us, because she quickly became a friend I will have forever.
Kristin Wenzen
Kristin Wenzen - Bridesmaid
Kristin, my college roommate for four years, was the one who always pulled me out of the library, cooked fun meals with me, went to games with me, made TikToks, and was my go-to for all things. We survived Engineering and our other roommates together! College wouldn’t have been the same without her!
Ashley Fischer
Ashley Fischer - Bridesmaid
Ashley is one of my best friends that I met in undergrad through my rural sociology and gen chem classes. She is sweet as can be and always includes me in her fun nights and the cutest gatherings she hosts. She’s the friend who is always there no matter what—she even helped me survive the hurricane in Florida when we both lived down there and made it feel more like a vacation. She’s also the friend that no distance can get between, and I’m so lucky to have her back in Ohio!
Sabrina Smith
Sabrina Smith - Bridesmaid
Sabrina is one of my college best friends. She’s always down for a fun time and is my partner in crime, my biomedical engineering bestie, and my go to for TikToks, laughter and all the goofy moments. She has the best dance moves and incredible style and is basically my personal stylist too.
Elizabeth Bowman
Elizabeth Bowman - Bridesmaid
Elizabeth started out as my coworker, but she quickly became my best friend and my go-to friend to get margs with. Now she’s also my right-hand assistant at work, and the one I turn to for gossip, laughs, and real-life talks.
