After spending months thoughtfully searching high and low in the fall of 2022, James finally found Kasey’s perfect ring. It was as special as she was and he was determined to bring her home to Florida for Christmas as his Fiance.

The ring was only half the battle as he then had to work out how he was going to ask her! He called in the help of all of our family. Kasey’s family to help find photographs of her whole childhood. James’ family to help with the details of how he would ask and most importantly, the surprise!

Kasey received a text one day from Mary asking if she was free for a girl's weekend in Brighton. Seeing as Sylvia, Mary, Molly and Kasey had gone away for girls' trips before, this wasn’t a shock and sounded lovely before leaving for Christmas. Molly had been texting pictures of the outfits she’d wear. Mary had made sure Sylvia knew to call while making the drive down to Brighton to say she was in their Airbnb. Mary had to drop Kasey off with the bags at the door and "park around the corner." Mary, staying shockingly calm, cool and collected, dropped her out front and reassured her that Sylvia would be right down to open the door. You can only imagine Kasey’s surprise when James, who was meant to be at football and looking after Ange for the weekend, opened the door.

After an initially confusing hello and questions on what was happening, James hauled the bags in the door and told Kasey to head upstairs. After climbing up what felt like a lighthouse, hearts racing, James and Kasey popped up into an enclosed glass room overlooking the sea at sunset. Kasey instantly smelled her favourite candles and was surrounded by flowers, champagne and photos of her whole life. James grabbed her hands, said some beautiful things, and got down on one knee. And the rest is history! They made calls shortly after and all of their family had been in on it and were excited to finally get to celebrate.

They ended the evening with an incredible dinner where they had a 10-course menu with 10 different wine pairings. Kasey hiccuped the whole way home not able to take her eyes off her incredible ring and even more incredible fiance.
