Our story began like any good modern love story - online. One picture of Jamie surrounded by dogs, followed by an open, genuine, and funny first message, and I was in.
Navigating through some creative Covid first dates - from ice skating, and hiking; to movie nights and dinners-in; and a spontaneous trip to Jasper to ride the gondola in a snow storm - we quickly realized that this was something special, and found our person in each other.
And the rest, well, after starting off long distance I accepted a new job more north and started work in Sherwood Park. We found home in a beautiful acreage just outside the city. Jamie found his passion and an incredible hidden talent in a new career path, and pursued his tattoo apprenticeship in Calgary. He then fell in love with our foster dog, and a handsome chocolate lab named Atlas then became part of the pack. Jamie proposed on Christmas Eve, which was so incredibly special to have that moment surrounded by family. We’re now focused in Edmonton/Sherwood Park, both working in the area, and taking each day by day.
It’s been a wild ride, with many ebbs and flows, and maybe an eddy or two (you can credit my upbringing in the back of a canoe for that line). But what we’ve found is that when you’re with your person, your best friend, and your ride-or-die - life will do its thing and we are in it for the journey.
