Buffalo Mountain Lodge
This is the venue of the reception which is directly beside the ceremony location!
It is a beautiful lodge with rooms available at a discounted rate for wedding guests. Please call 1-800-661-1367, and state that the room is for the Wilson-MacDonald wedding, to obtain the discounted group rate. There are some rooms reserved, but availability is not guaranteed after June 2024. We do recommend booking as soon as your travel plans are confirmed as Banff books up very quickly in the summer months.
Tunnel Mountain Reservoir
The ceremony will take place at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir, which is directly beside Buffalo Mountain Lodge. In case of unfortunate weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to Buffalo Mountain Lodge.
Tunnel mountain is an approximately 5 minute drive situated above the Town of Banff. There are a number of hotels, camping sites, and a hostel within walking distance of Buffalo Mountain Lodge, and the area is easy access to the Town of Banff via taxi or public transportation.
Tunnel Mountain Resort
This hotel is located directly across from Buffalo Mountain Lodge - where the ceremony and reception will take place. It is walking distance to the venue.
Hidden Ridge Resort
This hotel is located near the venue, and is approximately an 8 minute walk to Buffalo Mountain Lodge.
Banff National Park Pass
Banff is within a national park and requires a park pass for any vehicle that will be staying within the park. They can be purchased ahead of time online, or can also be purchased on your way into the park - there are permanent buildings on the highway that direct you to pay stations, to select a multi-day pass to cover your length of stay within the park.
Calgary International Airport
For our friends and family travelling from afar, the closest airport is Calgary. From there it is an hour and a half drive west to Banff where the ceremony and reception will take place. Using one of the shuttle services listed below, or renting a car are the best options for travel to the venue.
Brewster Express
For those arriving into Calgary, there is a direct bus shuttle from the Calgary airport to Banff. Brewster Express or Banff Airporter are two companies that pick-up directly from the Calgary Airport.

Another shuttle option is On-it Transit, that offers seasonal summer shuttles for $10 a trip (2023 prices) from Friday to Sunday, travelling from Calgary to Canmore/Banff.

Public Transportation
Transportation options to get around within the town of Banff include taxis or a public bus. The location of the ceremony and reception is on Tunnel Mountain which is a 5 minute drive from downtown Banff. It is easily accessible by taxi should you choose to stay somewhere other than the venue, or want to get around town without driving. There is also an in town public bus stop directly across from Buffalo Mountain Lodge.
Tunnel Mountain Village II Campground
There are many nearby campsites and trailer sites available in the area! This is one in close proximity to the venue.
For those planning on camping - campsite reservations are required and they do book up quite early. The online reservation system will likely open March 2024.
HI Banff Alpine Centre
The Hostelling International Alpine Centre is within walking distance to Buffalo Mountain Lodge (location of the ceremony and reception), as an alternative accommodation option to a hotel.
