Jamila and Chris met virtually through a weightlifting group chat. After diligently stalking Chris online and talking to him everyday outside of the group conversation, Jamila felt comfortable to go through with the crazy plan of flying across country to compete in a weightlifting meet and to meet her virtual friend in person.

After months of talking online they met in person for the first time when Chris picked her up from the Nashville airport. The drive from Nashville to Cookeville, TN is roughly a 45 min trip but it felt like 5min while the two talked and laughed.

That weekend Jamila competed in a weightlifting meet where Chris dived into his role as #1 supporter. Every time Jamila needed chalk, water or just someone to talk to, to bring the stress of the day down Chris was there.

After all the fun and laughs from the weekend concluded the pair of friends was devastated when the big day they had planned for months was over and there wasn't going to be any reason to keep in touch.

On the trip back home to Texas, Jamila ran into non stop travel issues that ranged from being stranded in Memphis, TN to sketchy taxi cab rides in a old ford F150 in Greenville, Mississippi. All through out the trip back home, Jamila talked with Chris to update him on her whereabouts and to have a familiar voice during

the chaos.

On the 3rd day of Jamila's trip from Tennessee to Texas she finally boarded a plane! Moments before turning her phone on airplane mode she decided to go through with another crazy plan. She told Chris how she felt about him and how amazing he was over the weekend and how she couldn't imagine never seeing him again.

She pressed "send", then sat nervously for the 45 min flight wondering what his response was going to be. Would he be crazy enough to start a long distance relationship with a single mom that lived 13 hours away....
