What will the weather be like?

Though winter weddings are beautiful, they are certainly cold! Our ceremony is outdoors and is projected to be thirty minutes to one hour in length. Please be sure to bring appropriate footwear (and a change of shoes for the indoor portion if you'd like), winter accessories (toque, scarf, mittens, hand warmers), and a warm winter jacket as you prepare to brave the cold. Fortunately, our reception will be warm and indoors.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is formal or black tie-optional. The way we interpret this is slightly less formal than a black-tie wedding. So, a tuxedo isn't required, but can still be worn if preferred. If opting for a suit, however, a formal dark suit, white shirt, and a conservative tie are preferable. For women, the outfit choices remain the same and include a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit. Essentially, we are looking for something fancy but with flexibility. If you're unsure, please do not hesitate to reach out as we tend to err on the more flexible side.

Do I need to wear a tuxedo?

No, tuxedos are completely optional. Guests who would be more comfortable in formal attire are welcome to wear this.

Are there any colours that are to be avoided?

We kindly request guests avoid wearing garments that are primarily white or off-white for the event. Additionally, the bridesmaids will be wearing dark green. Otherwise, there is no formal colour palette guests are required to adhere to.

Guests

When do I have to RSVP by?

We kindly request that all RSVPs be submitted by September 1, 2024. If you are aware that you are unable to attend the event, please let us know privately as soon as possible.

Can I bring a plus one?

Those who have been allocated a plus one will have this explicitly indicated on their wedding envelope (ex. addressed to Jane and John Doe or Jane and Plus One). Though we would love to allocate a plus one for every guest, due to size and venue constraints, we have been unfortunately unable to do so. If you are uncertain whether or not you were allocated a plus one, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Are children welcome at the wedding?

Whilst we love the little ones, we kindly request a child-free wedding unless your child/teenager has been explicitly invited.

Ceremony

What time does the ceremony start?

The ceremony will be starting at 14h00 hours sharp.

What time does the event end?

The reception is booked until 02h00 the following day, but guests are more than welcome to retire to their accommodations prior to 02h00.

Reception

What can I do between the ceremony and the reception?

Guests are welcome to rest, eat, or go skate on Lake Mildred which is only a five-minute walk away. Skate rentals are available for $15/hr and hockey sticks and pucks are also available for rent.

Where can I smoke?

Guests are permitted to smoke outside at the bottom of the staircase at the front of the building.

What is the wifi password?

Wifi password: fjpl

Gifts & Cards

What kind of gifts should I bring?

Because we are having a wedding that requires all guests to travel, we are more than happy to accept your presence at our wedding as our gift! Please do not feel compelled to purchase a gift. We will have a designated box to accept any cards on the day of.

Travel & Accomodations

When should I book my flight?

As Jasper is a national park, there are no airports located in Jasper. You will most likely have to fly into Edmonton and drive to make it into Jasper. Please prepare to fly in a day or two in advance in order to make the once-daily shuttle. The earlier you book your flights, the more affordable they will be so we recommend you not leave your booking until the last minute!

Did you reserve a block of rooms?

Yes, there are 13 rooms available in our block for reservation. Where possible, we strongly recommend booking with the block as soon as possible because they are on a first-come first-serve basis. Additionally, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is located a distance from other hotel blocks in the same vicinity.

Where should I stay?

We recognize that being a guest at a wedding is expensive and as such, we all operate within different budgetary constraints. If it is within your budget, we strongly recommend booking through the guest block at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for a discounted rate. Please note that only a set number of rooms have been reserved for the event and are available only on a first-come, first-serve basis. We have also included alternative lodging options at more affordable prices. As always, the earlier you book, the more affordable the prices will be. Please keep in mind, if you book with a hotel other than the Jasper Park Lodge you will need to factor in travel costs (i.e. taxi costs) to and from the hotel as the weather and the distance does not permit walking as a mode of transportation.

Is there a shuttle from the hotel?

No, there are no shuttles provided as the ceremony and reception will be taking place in the same location.

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes, complimentary self-parking is available at the venue.

Food & Drink

Do we accommodate dietary restrictions?

Most definitely. In order to do so, we please ask that you RSVP in a timely manner and indicate your dietary restriction(s) on your RSVP.

Will alcohol be served?

Soft drinks and juices will be covered by the couple along with other complimentary drinks during cocktail hour. Otherwise, we will be having a cash bar. Please be prepared to pay for additional drinks asides from the sparkling toast and table wine.

Miscellaneous

Can I request a song?

Absolutely!

We encourage guests to include a recommended song or two in their RSVP but we will also accept song requests during the dancing period of the reception.

Are your wedding dates written incorrectly?

The YYYY - MM - DD format is the only officially recommended method of writing a numeric date in Canada. The presence of the DD / MM / YY (most of the world) and MM / DD / YY (American) formats often results in misinterpretation. However, we feel that most of the world's interpretation of dates is most intuitive, which is reflected in our design choices.
