Guests should buy tickets from Shepler's Ferry for round trip tickets from Mackinaw City, Michigan to Mackinac Island, Michigan at the link below. Our discount code is: 25julywed. This code will apply to lower both the individual adult or individual child ticket to the discounted pricing structure. It is case sensitive and will need to be used in all lower case and as one word. If you are staying at the Grand, make sure to tell the dock workers in Mackinaw City and they will tag your luggage accordingly.

Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry

If you are flying into Pellston, you can take the Mackinaw Shuttle (link below) to the Shepler's Ferry Docks at Mackinaw City. You will need to make a reservation ahead of time. Round trip is $60/person; if you are arriving after 4pm local time, there is an additional $35 per reservation (not per person).

You can rent a car at the airport (Budget and Avis service PLN) and drive about 25 minutes to the ferry docks. If traveling to Pellston, be aware that there are limited flights in and out of the airport. When choosing your arrival and departure flights, make sure to check the ferry schedule from Shepler's as the ferries do not run 24 hours/day.

From Pellston Regional Airport (PLN)

Most major airports and airlines fly into Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). From there, you can rent a car and drive to Shepler's Ferry in Mackinaw City, Michigan (556 E Central Ave, Mackinaw City, MI 49701). It's about a 4ish hour scenic drive from DTW to the ferry docks and you will have to park your car overnight for the time you're on Mackinac Island. Alternatively, you can drop your rental car at Pellston Regional Airport and take the Mackinaw Shuttle to the ferry docks. Both Budget and Avis service this location, I've linked Budget below.

From Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)

There are plenty of other hotels on Mackinac Island besides the Grand, you can peruse accommodations at the link below. Please be aware that hotels book up quickly in July as it is peak tourism season. If the hotel links do not show availability, please call the hotel directly to ask about rates and reservations. If you plan to stay on the mainland, please be mindful of the ferry schedule as ferries do not run 24/7.

Travel

We recommend taking a carriage tour of the island while you're here. Carriage tours are $41/person and take roughly 2 hours. It's a great way to get to see the island before the wedding!

There are tons of cute shops located on Main Street. You can get to Main Street from the Grand by foot, bike, or by carriage taxi. Carriage taxis are CASH ONLY and cost between $10-$12 one way.

Shopping

Mackinac is known for its fudge! We highly recommend grabbing 1/2 pound (or more) to take back home with you and enjoy after leaving the island. Murdick's Fudge is our personal favorite, but there are many fudge companies with a plethora of stores on Main St.

If you're driving up from DTW to the ferry docks, make sure to stop at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland and Frankenmuth, MI. A Bavarian oasis located in Michigan, stop for some fried chicken and baked goods after shopping at the world's largest Christmas ornament shop!
