Jessica & Byron

November 10, 2024

So it's your first trip to Disney! Yay!

Welcome! It's so exciting to be able to share one of our favorite places with you!!

We will cover some of the basics, but feel free to reach out to Jessica or Byron if you feel like you still need more information.

The Parks

Disney World has four main theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.

You can purchase single park tickets and just visit one of the four for the day or park hopper tickets and do multiple in one day. Any Disney resort will have transportation to these theme parks. If you are staying off property, Uber/Lyft/etc is going to be the easiest to get to and from parks.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is the quintessential "Disney" park. It's where Cinderella's Castle is, almost all of the standard Disney rides are here, and it's just in general the most "Disney"-esque park. If you really love the Disney movies, this would be our top recommendation.

Some of our favorite rides here are Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Space Mountain (Byron only since it makes Jessica sick), and It's a Small World (Jessica; Byron makes her ride this one alone a lot).

If you are planning to go immediately to the parks after our wedding, this would be a good choice as our reception will be right next to Magic Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom

This is where we are getting married!!!!!

Animal Kingdom is, well, full of animals! It's main features are the Tree of Life, the Safari and Pandora (Avatar movies).

Our favorite rides here are the Kilimanjaro Safari, Na'vi River Journey, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Expedition Everest. This park has fewer rides but a lot more shows and attractions. The Festival of the Lion King is one of our top favorite shows across all of the parks and can be seen here.

If you really love animals, shows, or are really into Pandora (it's awesome), this would be a good choice in park for you.

EPCOT

EPCOT has the Disney Showcase which is a huge circle where you get to "travel" around the world to 11 countries.

It also has the Imagination Pavilion towards the front of the park where most of the rides are at.

This park is geared more towards an older audience, but can still be plenty of fun for smaller kids.

Dates are not confirmed yet, but there is a high possibility EPCOT will also be doing the Food and Wine Festival during the time of our wedding. This brings in additional food and drink stands themed to even more countries and is one of our most favorite events that EPCOT hosts.

Some of our favorite rides at this park are Test Track, Frozen Ever After, Soarin' Over California, and Cosmic Rewind (Jessica can't ride this one). Turtle Talk with Crush is a really fun event to go to as well!

If you are looking for a Disney experience based around food and drinks, this is going to be one of your favorite parks.

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is the "thrill" park of the group. It has a lot of the bigger (and funner) rides!

This is where Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land are located, which are some of the most fun areas across the parks.

Some of our favorite rides in this park are Rise of the Resistance (Byron's top favorite ride across all of Disney) Slinky Dog Dash, and Toy Story Mania.

If you love Star Wars, Toy Story, or just some of the bigger rides, this is definitely a good choice in park for you.

My Disney Experience Mobile App

Disney World has it's own mobile app "My Disney Experience" and it's going to be one of the most useful things you can have in the park.

Fair warning, this app is known to drain phone batteries pretty fast so you may want to have a portable charger with you.

With this app, you can see all the wait times for rides, start times for shows and events, see where characters will be, put in mobile orders for food, check into your dining reservations, purchase and use Genie+, and so much more.

Example Disney Day!

Disney makes it pretty simple but it can definitely be overwhelming if this is your first time. Here's a few basics of how a day at Disney World would work.

Getting to the park

If you are staying at a Disney Resort, this is super easy! Hop on one of Disney's transportation services to get to the park you'd like to visit for the day! Disney transportation starts 45 minutes before the park opens.

If you choose to stay at our room block hotels, Pop Century has access to the Skyliner (weather permitting) which brings you to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The other two parks are accessed by bus. If you choose to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, all parks are accessed by busses.

The length of travel to the parks will vary, but plan for up to 30 minutes. At some times of the day you may need to wait for more than one bus or wait in line for the Skyliner to start your journey.

At all parks there will be a security checkpoint where you will need to open all of your bags and go through metal detectors.

At the Park! Yay!

You've arrived! YAY!

If you arrive before the park opens, you will line up outside of the park. They will start scanning people in before the official open time and you will be able to go further into the park up to the ropes. Doing this is referred to as "rope-dropping" and is one of the ways to get to ride the more popular rides without as long of a wait. This can be CROWDED and CRAZY. Once the rope drops, it is a mad rush of people trying to get to the rides.

In general the rides people will rope drop will be:

Magic Kingdom - Seven Dwarves Mine Train

Animal Kingdom- Avatar Flight of Passage

EPCOT- Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After

Hollywood Studios- Rise of the Resistance

If you arrive after the park has already opened, just walk on into the park and start your day!

Want to Park Hop?

If you purchased a park hopper ticket, you will be able to visit more than one park each day.

To do this, you will exit your current park and get to the next park however you'd like (sometimes the Disney transport is the best option, sometimes Uber will save you a lot of time).

When you reach the next park, you will need to go through a security screening again.

Make sure to look up what time parks close as they all open/close at different times depending on the day of the week and if any special events are happening.

If you choose to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or any other deluxe resort, some of the parks will have Early Entry where you get to go into the parks 30 minutes earlier than the rest of the guests.

Getting back to your hotel

Disney transpiration stops running one hour after the park closes. If you plan to use them to get back to your hotel, make sure you have exited the park and are on a bus within this timeframe.

FOOD!!!

Food is pretty simple at Disney World, but can get pricey.

All parks have a variety of quick-stop locations where you can pickup snacks or full meals. Some parks also have sit down restaurants, but most of those will require you to have made an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) ahead of time.

Some of the quick stop locations are able to be ordered through the My Disney Experience app as a Mobile Order to avoid the lines as well.

You are allowed to bring your own food and water into Disney World, and it's highly encouraged to do this. There are water bottle filler stations throughout the parks.

Park Tickets!

Park tickets will need to be purchased if you would like to go into Disney World! You will purchase these directly through Disney.

Our wedding will get you a $20 discount off of a park hopper ticket with the link found in the “Things to Do” tab of our website or by calling the room block number at (407) 827-6799. You can also buy standard one park tickets with this link, but they will not have a discount.

As a part of our wedding, you will also be eligible for a partial day convention ticket which allows you into a single park for the later portion of our wedding day. This would be a cheaper option if you still want to go into a park but are unable to stay an extended length of time. These tickets are $109 per person for an entrance time after 1:00 p.m. and $89 per person for an entrance time after 5:00 p.m. Both of the partial day tickets will require a theme park reservation.

Prices will vary based on number of days, calendar days, and type of ticket. The more days you add, the cheaper each individual day will be. You do not have to use all of your days consecutively if you get a multi day pass.

Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a collection of shops and includes a VERY big Disney store. Most of the shops here are not Disney themed, but it’s still a fun area to walk around. You will be able to take Disney transportation to get to Disney Springs from any of the hotels. They have a fair amount of good food options as well!
