
This journey takes you back to the 1600s, through the living history museum of Plimoth Plantation. Interact with the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag, 2 starkly different cultures that came together in 1620, and learn how they were able to live together peacefully.
The staff and exhibits tell the story of 17th century Plymouth Colony and its shared history of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag People. The main exhibits include the 17th-Century English Village, Wampanoag Homesite, artisan Craft Center (Plimoth Bread Co.), Visitor Center, Nye Barn located at Plimoth Plantation and Mayflower II and the Plimoth Grist Mill located on in the waterfront area of downtown Plymouth. The exhibits are enhanced with an exciting menu of special events and public programs.
In the 17th-Century English Village, a re-creation of the Pilgrim's Plymouth Colony, guests come face-to-face with historical role-players portraying residents of Colonial Plymouth. Active participation in the daily activities of the village is encouraged.
The Wampanoag Homesite, located on the banks of the Eel River, is the only living history exhibit where guests see, touch, and experience the history of indigenous people. Plimoth Grist Mill is a working mill and a reconstruction of the original mill built by the Pilgrims that once stood on the same site in 1636. Located in Pilgrim Memorial State Park on the shore of Plymouth Harbor, this simple glacial erratic boulder has become a world famous symbol of the courage and faith of the men and women who founded the first New England colony. Although no historical evidence exists to confirm Plymouth Rock as the Pilgrims' actual steppingstone to the New World, the then 10-ton boulder was identified as this spot in 1741- 121 years after the arrival of the Mayflower.
