The story of John & McKenna begins long before the day they actually met. Although John grew up in Woodside, CA and McKenna grew up in San Antonio, TX, the ~Invisible String Theory~ is strong in this relationship. On NYE in 2017, both John and McKenna spent the night celebrating in downtown San Diego (years before they moved there), just one bar away from each other. In October of 2018, they both spent the weekend with friends at ACL in Austin, TX. In June and November of 2019, they were also in the same crowds listening to the same artists. Just missing each other!

John and McKenna both moved to San Diego in the Summer of 2019. It wasn't until February of 2020 they found themselves hanging around the same crowd in the streets of PB. They would continue to hang out (just as friends) throughout the COVID lock down. Rachel & McKenna used to pack a bag to stay at John and Jose's house on the weekends as Ubers were no longer and they were just having way too much fun.

The start of ~ Hornblend ~ John and McKenna moved into the exact same townhome complex on the exact same day... completely unplanned. McKenna & Rachel were looking to move to Pacific Beach and John & Jose quickly needed to find a new spot in PB after realizing they had a short lease. A couple of weeks before move in, the four of them were discussing their new houses.... only to find out they were the exact same unit (just flip flopped) and looked directly in to each other. Little did they know, this coincidence would change their lives forever.

The infamous night of the balcony light hanging.... John & Jose were on their rooftop and noticed McKenna hanging her balcony lights, so they offered to help. This is the first night McKenna started to think a little bit differently of John, as she realized he was the only one that could do the job better than her. As silly as it sounds, she swears she knew she was going to marry him after this night.

By mid-August John & McKenna had become best friends and were pretty much inseparable. From grocery shopping, to Home Depot trips, to random SD adventures, if you saw one you likely saw the other close by.

They had the time of their lives with the best friends in the world that summer. Since SD was still mostly shut down, they threw many themed parties on their rooftops and laughed until the sun came up.

McKenna surprised John with skydiving for his 26th birthday and confirmed life with McKenna would never be boring,

Both the Thrashes and the McKees choose a ski vacation for Christmas.... and what do you know they both end up in Park City, UT staying just a mile away from each other. The siblings get to spend Christmas Day skiing together.

The decision to officially start dating came with much time and thought, as not being in each others lives was not going to be an option. In January of 2021, John and McKenna took her Jeep out to the Anza Borrego Desert for a camping trip and he (FINALLY) asked her to be his girlfriend.

John and McKenna had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks camping in McKenna's Jeep. They got to explore 8 different national parks across 4 states. If they could enjoy 21 days living out of a Jeep, they felt like they were a pretty good match.

John and McKenna officially upgraded from neighhhh-bors to roomies. Moving next door was a piece of cake!

The Thrashes + the McKees officially meet for Thanksgiving in Texas. Combining these two families is fun and easy!

Year 1 was full of weddings, music festivals, and lots of travel.... and pretty much every year since!

Year 2! More weddings, music festivals, travel, and a lot of playing tour guide in SD... one of their favorite things to do!

John and McKenna spent their 2nd Anniversary in NYC and McKenna got to try on engagement rings.

Year 3 was the most travel packed year yet with trips to Barcelona, Athens, Santorini, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Florence, and the Caribbean.......

but of course nothing will ever top Maui where John asked McKenna to spend the rest of their lives together. The easiest "Yes" of her life!

John and McKenna decided to share their love of travel with everyone they love and get married in San Miguel de Allende, MX. They cannot wait to spend the weekend in this magical place with you all.

Oof. This one hurt. John and McKenna officially moved out of Hornblend. This is where they became best friends, fell in love, and where they lived the entirety of their relationship thus far (FOUR YEARS!). Although they know it is time, it was an extremely bittersweet move for them.

They moved to Denver, CO! Yep, you read that right. As if they don't have enough going on at the moment, they decided to add another adventure to their plate. They are loving Denver and soaking in their first time ever living on their own... TBD where they go next!
