Q&A
When is the best time to book international travel?
We recommend you set Google Flights notifications 9 months in advance, so you are notified when prices drop. If you need help setting this up, reach out to us. We typically find that booking international flights much less than 6 months out can be more expensive for the best flight paths.
When do you recommend we arrive?
We recommend arriving on or before Sunday August 31 so you have a day or two to begin adjusting to the time change. It’s always more difficult traveling east compared to west.
Do you have any recommendations where to travel in Portugal before/after the wedding weekend?
Portugal is known for its beaches and wine so we recommend exploring the coast by driving to the Algarve or Porto. Alternatively, the Azores islands and Madeira are just a quick flight away and are often referred to as the Hawaii of Europe.
What are the entry requirements in Portugal?
You will need a passport that is not expiring within six months of travel. There is no visa required for U.S. citizens.
How should we expect to get around Lisbon?
Taxis, Ubers, and public transit will be readily available, so no need to worry about how to get around.
While in the city center we expect you will opt to walk most places. The roads and sidewalks are primarily cobblestone and can be slippery and steep. It’s important you bring practical shoes like sneakers rather than sandals.
Do we need reservations in Lisbon?
Yes, it’s very important you make reservations for dinner, drinks, or tours well in advance. Restaurants tend to be small and you are traveling during high season. For more impromptu meals we recommend Time Out Market.
