Our Wedding

It all started with an app. In the fall of 2020, TJ and Julia were both looking for a sense of "normal" following the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sticking to small friend circles in person in New York City, both turned to Hinge for additional human connection. On the first day, TJ matched with Julia, drawn to her eye-catching dance photos and Basking Ridge, NJ hometown designation. After an initial message of "Hi! My grandparents (Ed and Mary Hartnett) are from Basking Ridge, how funny!" from TJ, Julia one-upped with a response of "Hi! Here's one better...I know your friend in picture number 2!" The friend was TJ's NYC roommate and high school friend Drew Tomlinson and the story of Julia and TJ had begun. Two weeks later, TJ and Julia had their first date at Doc Watson's on the Upper East Side of NYC. Two days after that, they spent a full day hanging at a brewery in Brooklyn with friends. The dates became more frequent, more friends and family were introduced, and they became an "official" couple on February 7th, 2021. TJ was confident Julia was "the one" from the beginning, but decided to take the next step on March 30th, 2024. Surrounded by the breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Appalachian Mountains outside of downtown Cold Spring, NY, TJ dropped to one knee and asked Julia to spend the rest of their lives together. Following a resounding "Yes!", the couple soaked in the moment with a photoshoot and a surprise dinner with both sides of the family at Blu Pointe in Newburgh, NY. It's a day they'll remember forever. In the years since, TJ and Julia have embraced their life together in NYC, enjoying midtown meetups, trying new foods and drinks, and exploring every inch of Central Park. They've become part of each other's families, with frequent Jersey Shore trips, milestone celebrations, and spontaneous meetups with siblings and parents. Traveling has been a staple in their relationship, with couple weekends throughout the Hudson Valley, football game tailgates in New England, and wedding destinations all across the US. TJ and Julia are so grateful to be surrounded by such supportive family and friends as July 19th, 2025 approaches. For those coming from near and far, thank you for being apart of "Our Story".

Wedding Reception Transportation

Shuttle service will be provided to and from Bonnet Island Estate from our three wedding hotels. If you selected that you would like transportation to our Wedding Reception, please find the departure times for each listed below. Holiday Inn Mainland - 4:40pmHotel LBI - 5:00pmDrifting Sands - 5:00pm Shuttles will depart Bonnet Island following the conclusion of our Wedding Reception and run continuously throughout the after party for your convenience.

Getting to Long Beach Island

Flying to Long Beach Island

The closest airport to Long Beach Island is Atlantic City (ACY), which is roughly 45 minutes south. Newark International (EWR, 87.3 miles, approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL, 68.7 miles, approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes).

The Bus from NYC & Philly

There is bus service (Transportazumah) directly from NYC and Philadelphia making stops in Manahawkin (at the Mainland Holiday Inn) and other stops on Long Beach Island. This bus also makes a stop at the Newark or Philadelphia airport if you’re meeting friends or need to catch a plane home! Make sure to purchase tickets for the bus ahead of time.<a href="https://transportazumah.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://transportazumah.com/</a>

Ubers & Public Transportation 

While there are Ubers and Lyft on LBI the service can be "hit or miss." There is no public transportation on LBI for train or bus.

Driving to Long Beach Island

Long Beach Island is off exit 63 on New Jersey's Garden State Parkway. From there, NJ 72-East will take you directly to all of our hotels listed, Bonnet Island Estate, or directly onto the island. Parking is readily available at all of our hotels and Bonnet Island Estate.

Where to Stay on Long Beach Island

We have secured a block of rooms (1x King and 2x Double Bed room choices) at the The Holiday Inn / Mainland in Manahawkin, NJ. The hotel is about a 10 minute trip to Bonnet Island Estate for the reception and about 5-10 minutes to the ceremony. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding reception from this location. There is a 1-night minimum stay for guests, but the block is secured for 2 nights, and rooms in the block must be booked prior to 5/18/2025. Please note that the pricing and room choices outside the block might be better. The block is not discounted for our guests, it is simply reserved for our guests in case there are no rooms available elsewhere. The hotel is a short 5-10 minute trip to Bonnet Island Estate for the reception and about 10-15 minutes to the ceremony. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding reception from this location. There is a 2-night minimum stay for guests and rooms in the block must be booked prior to 6/2/2025. Please note that the pricing and room choices outside the block might be better. The block is not discounted for our guests, it is simply reserved for our guests in case there are no rooms available elsewhere. Please call the hotel directly at 609-494-1123 and when making reservations be sure to request the "Goldberg-Hartnett Wedding Block." Check in is 3:00 pm and check out is 11:00 am.

Drifting Sands Oceanfront Hotel

We have secured a block of rooms at the Hotel LBI in Ship Bottom, NJ. The hotel is a short 5-10 minute trip to Bonnet Island Estate for the reception and about 10-15 minutes to the ceremony. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding reception from this location. There is no minimum stay for guests. Rooms in the block must be booked prior to 5/23/2025. Guests can make reservations at www.HOTELLBI.com using the group code, GHWB. On the website, click on "Book Now," and select the "rate options" button on the tool bar, and input your group code where it says “promotional/group code” and click apply. The rooms available inside of the group block at the discounted rate will automatically come up. Check in is 4:00 pm and check out is 11:00 am.

Hotel LBI

Surf City Hotel does not offer blocks during the summer, but it is a great option for guests is a short 5-10 minute trip to Bonnet Island Estate for the reception and about 10-15 minutes to the ceremony. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding reception from this location. There is a 2-night minimum stay for guests. Reservations should open up for guests to book around August 19, 2024.

Renting a Home on Long Beach Island

Renting a home is a great option, especially for larger groups wishing to stay together. Short-term rentals are harder to find in season, but are most-likely to be found on AirBnB / VRBO. The best place to search full-week rental homes on LBI is <a href="https://www.vacationrentalslbi.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">vrlbi.com</a> Please keep in mind that Beach Haven and Beach Haven West are not that close to one another. Beach Haven West is closer to the wedding venue.

LBI's Beautiful Beaches

You can visit any of LBI's beaches. Grab a beach chair and chill for a few hours or the day! You will need a daily beach pass, but can usually purchase them at the entrance to the beach. Don't worry, if you don't see someone selling them, they will find you (and if they don't then it's a lucky day!).

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park

The lighthouse is commonly referred to as Ol' Barney and has been an island icon for over a hundred years. Visit the park's museum, walk the jetty, stick your toes in the tide pools, hike the (short) nature trail, or if you are feeling up to it, climb up to the top of Ol' Barney for an amazing view! Head to our Welcome Drinks early and visit the lighthouse just feet away!

Viking Village, Barnegat Light

Located on the northern tip of the island, there are a bunch of cute shops and with a little something for everyone.

The Old Causeway Steak & Oyster House

Manafirkin Brewing Co.

But inside, you'll find some of the most creative beer choices on the main land. Just minutes from the bridge, Manafirkin Brewing Co. is a great stop for a fun beer.

Ship Bottom Ice Cream Co.
