Our story unfolded against the backdrop of breaking news and green screens.
It was summer of 2016. Julia was an ambitious 22-year-old who just graduated from Rutgers University. (Go Knights!) She packed up her whole life to move to South Bend, Indiana to chase her dream of becoming a news reporter and anchor.
Greg was a Northwest Indiana kid with big dreams. After graduating from IU Bloomington, he began his career as a meteorologist beginning in Merrillville, IN then Rockford, IL before moving to the land of the Fighting Irish. That July, he was already five years into the news business and just 6 months away from the end of his contract as morning meteorologist at ABC 57 News.
They bonded over their shared love of adventure. Geography didn't matter. Their love and motivation helped separate careers evolve into a shared life.
Julia and Greg were graced with something that most people meeting in the news industry could only dream about experiencing. They hit the news "jackpot" and were able to work in three cities, for different TV stations with barely any long distance dating needed between jobs. The ability to have such a strong support system for each other and take on whatever life had in store, only strengthened their bond. They knew they could do anything as long as they believed in each other.
