How and when should I book my stay at the resort?

All accommodations will be booked through our travel agency, Enlighten Excursions. Please see the Accommodations tab for more details on how to book your stay and timeline to book.

Is UNICO 20°87° Resort All-Inclusive?

YES it is! All the food and drinks at any bar, restaurant, or buffet are free and included in your stay. All drinks and snacks in your room are free and restocked daily. Room Service is 24 hours a day, so make sure you put it to good use - especially for any late night meals or a snacks. Check out UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya's website for more information on what is included. With that being said, tips for service are encouraged ($1-2 USD per drink, $2-5 USD per meal)

Should I make reservations for meals at the resort?

Yes! We would recommend making dinner reservations about ~30 days ahead of your trip. The resort has multiple restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (as well as a café & other food stands throughout the resort). We will have cocktails and a dinner buffet at the Welcome Event on Thursday night - so come hungry!

Should I Bring Cash with me to Mexico or is credit card enough?

Cash is KING! The best currency to bring to Mexico is US dollars - but having a mix of pesos is great too. Exchanging your US dollars to pesos can sometimes be a hassle due to foreign withdrawal fees from the ATMs at the resort. We recommend having $1's & $5's to tip the staff - we usually bring ~$50 USD per day to use between the two of us (30-$1s, 4-$5s). It really depends on how many drinks you plan on getting. A lot of credit cards typically have an additional charge for foreign transactions. Keep this in mind when determining how much cash to bring and/or what credit card you will be using.

How Far in Advance Should I Book a flight to Cancun?

You are welcome to book flights through our travel agency, but you can also self-book flights if you prefer, especially if you have miles or credits you’d like to use. You'll typically find the most flight deals to Cancun between two and five months in advance of travel - the most accurate answer is to book flights to Cancun when the price drops. And the best way to find out about price drops is to sign up for cheap flight alerts on Google or other flight trackers! On average, the cheapest days to fly to Cancun are usually Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Do I need a passport?

YES. Please do not forget you will need a passport to enter and exit Mexico. A valid passport book is required to enter Mexico by air, and those attempting to enter at an airport with a U.S. passport card only, may be denied admission. Also, if your passport expiration date is in within 6 months time, it is considered expired and will need to be renewed before you leave the US.

What should I pack?

The climate in Mexico is very warm and can get humid. Make sure to pack light and comfortable clothing for your stay, as well as bathing suits for swimming and sunbathing. If you plan to do any excursions on your trip - don't forget to pack appropriately (water shoes, sneakers, athletic clothing). I would also recommend for ladies to bring a shawl or light jacket for when the sun goes down - the breeze might get a bit chilly!

is there a dress code for the wedding or welcome party?

Yes! Please see the Wedding Day Attire and Welcome Party Attire tab for dress code details.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We are strictly having an "unplugged" ceremony - which means no phones or cameras used by guests! The greatest gift you can give us is to be fully present as we say our I do's. We have invested in professionals to capture this moment so please allow them to work their magic. After the ceremony, we very much encourage you taking as many photos and videos as you would like to capture all the memories of the night.

Are kids welcome?

We will be having an adults-only wedding. We want everyone to fully enjoy themselves on this trip and only think about relaxing & having a great time!!

Will there be an open bar at the wedding?

If you know us, then you know this is a no-brainer - YES. The wedding venue will be providing an open bar with an assortment of drinks to choose from. Don't worry - there will be plenty of hors d'oeuvres and dinner served to keep us full & ready to party the night away.

Gifts

We cannot emphasize enough that making the trip all the way to Mexico for us is truly the most incredible gift you could give us. But if you are still inclined - please see the Registry tab. Please do not bring any gifts to Mexico! We do not have a good means of transporting gifts home to DC and it will be difficult for us to keep track of it while we are celebrating all weekend.

Wedding venue transportation

The wedding venue is located 5 minutes South of Tulum town, and a 30 minute drive from the resort. The charm of our wedding venue is that it is a private villa/property in the jungle, naturally secluded yet in close quarters with central Tulum. We will be providing safe and secure transportation to and from the wedding. Both the ceremony and the reception are held in one place, so once we have arrived at the venue, the entire night will take place there.

Will the wedding take place indoors or outdoors?

Both the wedding ceremony and reception will be held outdoors and with gravel pathways- so please keep this in mind and dress appropriately. There are a few indoor rooms within the villa for guests to use if needed. The venue is surrounded by natural greenery and trees, so there will be plenty of shade.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Our travel agency will be handling accommodations and RSVPs. You should have received a digital wedding invite from Enlighten Excursions sent straight to your email address. All RSVP and booking information will be available through them.

What should I do if I can't make it?

You will be missed tremendously, but we completely understand this is a huge ask and some of our guests will be unable to make it. If you cannot attend our wedding please indicate your regrets once you have received your invitation.
