Getting to Barcelona

From the U.S.

Major Airports: The best international airport to fly into is Barcelona-El Prat (BCN). Depending on your route, you can also fly into Madrid-Barajas (MAD) and travel to Barcelona from there. The high-speed Renfe AVE train from Madrid to Barcelona takes 2h 30m, with tickets averaging around €40 (renfe.com). Alternatively, domestic flights and rental cars are available for the journey.

Direct Flights: Major cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles offer direct flights to Barcelona. Otherwise, most routes will have a layover in a European hub (London, Paris, or Amsterdam).

Time Zone: Spain is 6 hours ahead of EST, so plan for a little jet lag!

From the U.K.

Flights: There are frequent direct flights from London, Manchester, and other major U.K. cities to Barcelona-El Prat (BCN).

Flight Time: The flight from London to Spain is about 2-3 hours, making it an easy weekend getaway!

Getting from Barcelona to Sitges

Sitges is a stunning coastal town just 35 km (22 miles) southwest of Barcelona. If you would like to join us on Friday night for Toasts & Talent (i.e. Welcome Drinks) or Sunday for Brunch, you can get there by train, bus, or car.

By Train (reccomended)

Departure Points: Barcelona's 3 main train stations are Barcelona-Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, and Estació de França.

Frequency: Frequent departures offered from 5:30 a.m. to midnight

Duration: 45 minutes

Tickets: Can be purchased at the train station kiosks or online for as little as $5 when you book in advance. Simply search "Renfe Barcelona to Sitges" or visit Renfe.com

By Car

Route: Drive along the C-32 toll motorway for the fastest route, or take the C-31 coastal road for a scenic drive.

Duration: Approximately 35 minutes via C-32; slightly longer on the coastal route.

Car Rentals: Available at the airport and throughout Barcelona.

travel tips

Will I need a power adapter in Spain?

U.S. guests: You’ll need a plug adapter and possibly a voltage converter if your device isn’t dual-voltage. (Phones and laptops usually are; hair tools usually aren’t.)

U.K. guests: You’ll need just a plug adapter—your devices are already compatible with the voltage.

Currency & Cards

Contactless is king – Most places in Spain (restaurants, shops, taxis, even market stands) accept credit cards and contactless payment like Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Cash isn’t essential, but helpful – You don’t need to carry much cash, but it never hurts to have a few Euros on hand for small purchases, tips, or places that have card minimums.

Use a travel-friendly card – Be sure to bring a debit or credit card with no foreign transaction fees to avoid sneaky charges.

Pro tip: Let your bank know you’re traveling to Spain so your card doesn’t get flagged!
