Kathleen and Brett first met in the summer of 2016 while working as lifeguards at the local pool in their hometown of Port Elgin, Ontario. At the time, they were just friends, but spent a lot of time together at work and training down at the beach for lifesaving sport.

Over Christmas holidays in 2018, the two of them reconnected unexpectedly and the rest is history! They have spent the last five years traveling, cottaging, exploring Ottawa, and growing together as a couple. On November 12th, 2022 Brett popped the question while on a hike at a local hiking trail in Ottawa! Of course Kathleen said "yes"!
