Our Story

We started dating in March 2020. Conveniently, this was also the start of Pennsylvania's pandemic lockdown, meaning that dating consisted of working, jogging, and doing puzzles together. We were assigned to the same three-resident team throughout the early months of the pandemic which allowed us to spend almost 24 hours a day together. When we didn't hate each other by July, we both knew we had found the one.

The Beginning

Our first vacation May 2020 - we rented a house in Virginia and spent a week getting takeout and hiking in Shenandoah National Park

Our First Anniversary

For our first anniversary, Katie planned a surprise private dinner at what was to become "our spot", Bistro Romano in Society Hill. After acting like that was the main surprise, the next day she brought Josh to a surprise outdoor birthday party with all of his oldest friends - teaching him to be wary of surprises during the entire month of March!

In May of 2021, we set out to the animal shelter to try to find a best friend or two to carry on the legacy of Josh's best feline buddy Gunther, who had passed in the fall. We happened upon an entire litter of kittens who stole our hearts from the outset. We decided to bring all three of them home, starting Katie's evolution into a full-blown crazy cat lady.

Josh Graduates From Residency

On June 10, 2022, Katie woke with a fever, shortness of breath, and a boatload of denial to match. It was the morning of Josh's graduation from surgical residency, and she had Covid-19! The show must go on, so she was placed in a spray-painted quarantine circle for the duration of the outdoor pig-roasting festivities.

Josh went on to start his Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Cooper hospital in Camden, NJ!

Making it Official

On our third anniversary, we left the apartment to go to our spot - Bistro Romano - for our yearly private wine cellar dinner. After some distracting techniques, Josh proposed in his apartment and we celebrated three-fold our new favorite day: his birthday, our anniversary, and our engagement!
