Nope! You are welcome to stay anywhere you would like on island. We do recommend staying in West Hawaii between Kona and the resort for convenience.

No worries! Uber and Lyft do operate on island. If you plan to mostly stay around your resort, hotel, or Airbnb there is no need to rent a car. We do recommend renting a car so that you can have more flexibility to explore.

Hawaii is typically warm year round- between 75 and 85 degrees during the day. During the summer (August included) daytime highs in the 90s are not uncommon. Pack plenty of beach attire including sun protection. Water shoes are excellent for some of the more rugged beaches. If you plan to make a day trip to Volcanoes National Park or to the Mauna Kea Observatory, it can actually be pretty chilly. Pack layers and rain gear for those adventures if you choose! If you forget to bring something, no worries! Kona has a Target, Walmart, Costco, and plenty of other shopping centers to meet your needs.
