Hikes:
1. Pyramid Point Trail
Length: 2.7 miles loop
Description: A moderately difficult trail that provides breathtaking views of the Manitou Islands and Lake Michigan from the top of Pyramid Point. The trail passes through a mix of forest and open meadows and offers incredible turquoise views of the water. This is where Aaron and Kayla got engaged!
2. Empire Bluff
Length: 1.5 miles round trip
Description: This moderate trail offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding bluffs. The trail is well-maintained and features interpretive signs along the way. This is one of Aaron and Kayla’s favorite places to catch the sunset.

3. Dune Climb
Length: Varies (typically about 3.5 miles round trip to Lake Michigan and back)
Description: This challenging hike involves climbing up the large sand dunes at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The effort is rewarded with incredible views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes. It’s super fun for kids to run up and down the dunes.

4. VASA Pathway (10k Loop)
Length: 6.2 miles loop
Description: Part of a larger network of trails, the 10k loop is popular for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. It features varied terrain, including forests and rolling hills. It’s massive!

5. Alligator Hill Trail
Length: 4.6 miles loop
Description: This moderately challenging trail offers a variety of loops, with the main loop providing panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding forests. The trail also features old-growth pine trees and wildlife viewing opportunities. It’s incredible! It’s also nearby Glen Arbor where you can swing by for a burger at Art’s Tavern or Cherry Republic.

6. Old Mission Peninsula - Mission Point Lighthouse Trail
Length: Varies (several short trails)
Description: The trails around Mission Point Lighthouse offer a variety of easy hikes through wooded areas and along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The lighthouse itself is a historic landmark, providing picturesque views of the water. The area is great for a relaxing stroll and exploring the natural beauty of the peninsula. There are also great beach spots nearby. Kayla and Aaron do a date night each year near this beach.

Description: This trail system is part of the larger Grand Traverse Commons Natural Area, which includes several interconnected trails winding through forests, meadows, and historic grounds. The Historic Barns Park Trail is a highlight, offering scenic views and a chance to explore the historic barns and surrounding natural areas. The trail is relatively easy, making it suitable for hikers of all ages. It’s also a great place for mountain biking and exploring the common.

8. Brown Bridge Quiet Area Loop

Description: This peaceful trail loops through forests and along the Boardman River. It's a great spot for wildlife viewing and enjoying the tranquility of nature. It’s also Aaron’s favorite spot to fish in the area (shown to him by his brother and Shaughn and his Dad).
