Dublin Airport - Aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath
Kilkea is 1 hour away from Dublin & the closest international airport.
Please stay tuned for transportation details from the bride and groom.
You can also rent a car to get to Kilkea Castle, which is about an hour drive through the beautiful Irish countryside. Prior to renting a car , please check with the rental car company what documentation is needed.
Reminder! The Irish drive on the opposite side of the road.
There are direct flights from Chicago to Dublin through multiple airlines (Aer Lingus, Delta, American, and United - just to name a few!)
From Serbia - there are no direct flights so you will have to plan for a connection. Swiss Airlines & Lufthansa offer flights under 5 hrs!
We suggest everyone book through the airline directly vs a third party site to avoid any issues. Please also consider adding travel insurance to your flight.
Arriving To Ireland & Kilkea Q+A:
When Should We Arrive To Ireland?
We understand that a destination wedding is a lot to ask for our guests so the most important is to arrive the day of the wedding (July 3rd, 2024).
However, we encourage guests to arrive at least 2 days prior to the wedding to join in on the fun on the castle grounds (July 2nd) & get accustomed to the jet lag!
Where Do We Stay?
Check under the ‘Accommodations’ for more details.
Flight, Visa, Passporting, & Other Travel Q+A:
Are there visa restrictions guest should be aware of?
If you are traveling with a US passport or EU/UK passport a visa is not required to enter Ireland.
If you are traveling with a Bosnian or Serbian passport - you will need to apply for a visa 3 months prior to the wedding date.
Irish Visa Website for more information : https://www.dfa.ie/travel/visas/visas-for-ireland/
When should we book tickets?
We encourage guests to books tickets 6 months (by January 2024) to 1 year (by July 2023) out from the wedding as the prices are the most reasonable.
The EuroCup (UEFA Euro 2024) will be held in Germany during the timeframe of our wedding so ticket price might increase as we get closer to our wedding date. Please plan accordingly.
Is there a 'fee' to travel to Europe?
Dodged a bullet for our wedding, phew! "Fee" was suppose to start in 2024 but extended to 2025. In 2025, certain countries ( US, Bosnia, and Serbia) will need an ETIAS visa approval to travel to most European countries. The cost to obtain this visa is 7euros which will be valid for 3 years. One is able to submit their application through their phone & results are obtained within minutes.

Help! I need to renew my passport!
Make sure to check when your passport expires. If you passport expires 6 months after our wedding date/date of travel - you will not be able to travel. This a government rule & not ours! You can renew your passport via mail or even online (during certain times of the month)! Ask Kevin - he did it online & it was super easy.
Tip: If you are renewing your passport online & go take your pic at CVS / Walgreens / Post Office - before you pay & take the picture confirm with the place they can send you a digital copy of your photo (USB or emal). If they hand you a physical copy of your photo you will not be able to upload it.

If I am traveling back to the US from Dublin, can I go through customs in Ireland instead of the US?
YES! Instead of waiting in the long customs line at O'Hare airport - you can undertake all US immigration, customs and agriculture inspections at Dublin Airport prior to departure.
Per the Dublin Airport website: "that having cleared USCBP, passengers arriving in the US are treated as domestic arrivals, allowing them to avoid immigration queues upon arrival and pick up their bags and go.
In addition, this benefits onward connecting passengers in the US who will have their baggage checked through to their final destination.
We advise that you allow 3 hours before a long-haul flight. If you are checking in a bag, please allow up to an hour of additional time. If you are flying soon, please be aware that it might be very busy at peak periods, so allow yourself plenty of time to check-in, go through Security screening and allow time to go through US Preclearance before your USA bound flight. USA flights depart from Terminal 2." Link for more information: https://www.dublinairport.com/flight-information/travelling-to-usa/usa-preclearance/us-customs-and-border-protection-video
What events (not related to the wedding) will be taking place in Ireland leading up to the wedding?
Events (not related to the wedding) that can increase hotel/flight prices:
Taylor Swift will be performing in Dublin June 28th & June 29 2024 (weekend approaching our wedding). Also, the EuroCup will be held during the timeframe of our wedding in Germany so please plan accordingly.
Taylor in Dublin, what should I know?
Taylor Swift knew we were getting married in Ireland & decided to have her concert leading up to our wedding , very sweet of her!!
CONCERT DATES IN DUBLIN: Friday, Saturday & Sunday - June 28, 29 & 30, 2024.
Hotel prices are not only increasing in Dublin, but are very limited for those who plan to explore Dublin prior to our wedding. We understand this might cause additional stress when planning your trip so things we suggest if you were planning on exploring Dublin before:
- Book asap to secure a room - check direct with the hotel (via email or over the phone or their website) Hotels to consider : Marriot, Hilton, Local Bed and Breakfasts or look at Airbnbs or VRBO.
If you are using a travel credit card - hotels might be available through their 3rd party site. If you do book through a 3rd party site, we suggest having email confirmation from the hotel itself your rooms are reserved. Hotels sometimes overbook, better to be safe!
Please also consider getting travel insurance!! -Dublin is great city but can be explored in 1-2 days so why not explore the outskirts of Dublin first?
How can I book my own transportation?
Ubers & taxis are easy to book via the Uber and Freenow App if you still wish to go into the city.
