Krista and Matt’s tale is one as old as time. They met at a speech meet in high school when they were both competing in different groups (which Krista won, by the way) and instantly struck up a friendship based on a shared interest in Pop-Punk music and horror movies. In the following years, they would have a will-they/won’t-they relationship that would rival sitcom’s greatest love stories. In 2009, Krista mustered the courage to ask Matt to prom, which he accepted and would treat Krista to a night on the town, complete with an Arby’s dinner and a romantic bus ride to the Amazing Pizza Machine (much like Sam and Diane, I imagine).

Still, Krista and Matt remained friends until October of 2012, when he took Krista to see their favorite band, Motion City Soundtrack. It was here that the world would be forever changed and the shattering of a thousand hearts would echo throughout the cosmos as they would become “official”.

The years that followed were filled with ups (road trips to comic cons, concerts, new friends, new jobs, a cat) and downs (Motion City Soundtrack breaking up, sooo many car problems) but it was all just prelude to January of 2022 when Matt enacted his plans to ask Krista to marry him.

In one final challenge to make sure his bride-to-be hadn’t lost her edge in the last decade they’d been together, Matt constructed a proposal based around a Stephen King-themed escape room. In the end, not even Pennywise the Clown could keep Krista from finding the little paper boat that had the words: “Will you marry me?”

And whether it was a miracle from the Heavens or pressure from Pennywise, she said, “Yes.”

Now, as the days tick by, Krista and Matt rush to plan their wedding and break a thousand more hearts when they say their vows. On October 14th, 2023, 11 years to the day from when they started dating, they will exceed even Sam and Diane (spoilers) and fulfill their destinies as husband and wife, becoming the power couple written about in legends.
