The downtown area is walkable and has many shops, bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. A few restaurants we recommend (reservations suggested!) are: Poppycocks, The Tasting Room Restaurant, The Cook's House, Red Ginger, Barrio, and the Filling Station Microbrewery.

Traverse City is the cherry capital of the U.S. and Cherry Republic offers over 200 cherry-based products.
The Traverse City region is home to almost 50 wineries. Most are located on Leelanau Peninsula or the Old Mission Peninsula. Several companies in the area also offer wine tours, including transportation between wineries.
The National Park is located on the Leelanau Peninsula and offers a variety of activities -- Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, the Dune Climb, canoe trips, and biking and hiking trails.
Traverse City is along Grand Traverse Bay, an arm of Lake Michigan. There are several parks and beaches along the shore, including Clinch Park and East Bay Park.
