Recommend visiting the acropolis early in the morning
to avoid the crowds and heat! Spend the day exploring the beautiful whitewashed village of Lindos and have dinner/drinks on one of the many rooftops.
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town of Rhodes is the largest medieval city in Europe. It is also historically where one of the Ancient World Wonders, Colossus of Rhodes, used to stand!
Charaki (Haraki) village is where the Grammatikopoulos' house is. A pebbly beach cove with cafes and restaurants that overlook a medieval castle which is lit up at night. We recommend taking a short hike up to
Feraklos Castle during sunset.
This peaceful beach is one of our favorites on the island and is a short drive from Haraki Village. Along the path to the beach, you can take in the beautiful view Feraklos Castle.
This tiny beach is a hidden gem and can be a little difficult to locate. Accessible from Stegna, follow the signs down the dirt road until you reach a restaurant on the mountain top. Take the long staircase down to the secluded beach. Make sure to walk along the rocky path on the left side of the beach to see the beautiful cave structures and snorkel inside the swimming holes.
Be prepared to climb 350 steps! This legendary monastery is the subject of many mysterious stories of the past. The most interesting of which is its ties to the lore of childbirth through prayer. It is said that many women who have had trouble conceiving have successfully made the pilgrimage up the stone steps to the monastery, and seen their luck turn around through prayer to Panagia (the Virgin Mary) at the summit. To this day, you will notice that many men (Tsambiko) and women (Tsambika) in Rhodes are named after this monastery after their mothers conceived following a pilgrimage.
Fun fact, Dimitri's father was baptized here! He was almost named Tsambiko but yiayia decided it wasn't a very flattering name.
Makes for a good day trip if looking to explore another island nearby. There are ferries from Old Town daily. Must try Symi shrimp and buy some natural sponges!
Also known as Petaloudes Valley, this nature park is home to millions of butterflies that cascade along the trees and shrubbery during the summer months.
A beautiful medieval castle in the city of Rhodes.
