When Two Paths Became One

The Moment Everything Changed: When I look back at 2017 on the MDC campus, I remember seeing Laurie and feeling a certainty I'd never experienced before. It wasn't just attraction; it was the quiet, profound realization that this was the kind of woman I wanted to build a life with—the woman I wanted to be my wife. I knew I had to be close to her, so I started simply by being her friend. That bond of friendship was the foundation, and by December 2018, she became my girlfriend, making a dream I didn't know I had a reality.

From the moment I first saw him at Miami Dade College in 2017, something in his quiet confidence, his intellect, and his kindness tugged at my spirit. What began as a friendship, rooted in shared dreams, Haitian pride, and endless laughter, quickly became a bond where he challenged me, protected me, and even made my heaviest days feel lighter. His intentionality, romantic gestures at midnight, leadership, and unwavering support revealed a man of character, purpose, and heart. Somewhere between late-night flowers, fundraising events with the Haitian IBO Club, and our trip to New York with the Investment Club, I realized he was the man God wrote into my life. And on the night of the masquerade ball, when I said yes, our two paths finally became one.

The Chapter of Long Distance 

For years, we’ve lived the long-distance life. It took sacrifice, countless hours on video calls, and a fierce commitment, but every moment apart only solidified that we were worth the effort. We didn't just survive the distance; we filled it with unforgettable memories.​Adventures on the Road: We mastered the art of visiting, celebrating milestones like her graduations, my graduation, and every significant birthday party together.

Long distance became the quiet rhythm of our love, stretching from Miami to Florida State and Tuskegee, where every mile only deepened our bond. Nights on glowing screens turned into study sessions, silly selfies into keepsakes, and each break into reunions of movie nights, bowling, ice cream runs, and walks beneath whispering trees. He drove hours just to see me smile, and when I learned to drive, I followed that same highway back to him, trading campuses and miles like love notes across the map. Through undergrad and grad school we became each other’s fiercest supporters, celebrating every dream and graduation. What shone brightest were the small miracles, his helping me move during quarantine when no one else could, and his surprise at my graduation photoshoot when I needed reassurance most. Every mile, every call, every choice to choose one another wove a tapestry of love resilient and unbreakable, carrying us joyfully to the beginning of forever.

Creating Our History

Our love story is stamped in the excitement of trips to Vegas and New York, the closeness of a road trip to Philly, and the joy of shared moments during our family trip to Puerto Rico. Home was never a location; it was always in each other's arms.​

After graduation, our love learned to turn distance into destinations. From the glitter of Vegas lights to the quiet trails of North Carolina, from Jacksonville’s sandy beaches to the winters of New Jersey, every reunion felt like the world pressing “unpause” on our story, as if we had never been apart at all. We wandered through cities hand in hand, road-tripped to Philadelphia with laughter spilling across every mile, and escaped to Puerto Rico with family, where the sun, the ocean, and the joy around us stitched our hearts even closer. No matter the distance, we always found our way back to one another, boarding planes, planning visits, celebrating birthdays and milestones, and choosing each other again and again. Traveling became our love language, the bridge between cities and seasons, and the living proof that two curious hearts can build a home in every place they meet.

Becoming the Best Versions of Ourselves

She is, without a doubt, the reason I am the man I am today. Her unwavering support, her perspective, and her grace helped shape me. She never demanded I change, but her sheer goodness inspired me to be better, kinder, and more driven in every aspect of my life.

He is one of the greatest gifts God has ever placed in my life. Because of him, I have grown more resilient, more playful, more confident in my purpose, and softer in all the ways that matter. He awakens the child in my laughter and the woman in my ambition; he steadies my emotions with quiet logic and ignites a fire beneath every dream I dare to chase. He is my calm voice of wisdom, second only to the Holy Spirit, gently guiding me, challenging me, and shaping me into the best version of myself. Each day, I thank God for choosing the perfect partner, friend, and companion for this journey. He is the love of my life, my forever safe place, and the one I long to walk beside—through every mile, every season, and every miracle still to come.

The Promise of Forever

After all the plane tickets, all the late-night calls, and all the miles traveled, he finally brought us back to the moment of forever. I asked her to marry me in Key West in November 2024.​We are so ready to close the chapter on long distance and start our most exciting journey yet: being together, every single day, as husband and wife.

On November 10th, 2024, as the sun melted into the ocean, he asked me to be his forever. Every detail was planned with such intention, so thoughtful and so gentle, that the moment felt as though God Himself had paused time just for us. I was walking through a difficult season, yet as he always does, he became the light at the end of my tunnel, turning worries into laughter and bringing the brightest smile to my face. Despite being an external auditor, I never caught a single clue of his perfectly executed master plan, not one! Standing there by the water, I felt only excitement for the life we are about to build. We know marriage will not always be easy, but the miles that once separated us have already strengthened us in ways only distance can. With God at the center, love in our hearts, and our playful spirits leading the way, we are ready to face every challenge, celebrate every joy, and keep choosing each other, always with fun, faith, and forever in mind.
