Reynisfjara is one of the most iconic "Iceland" stops and includes miles of black sand beaches with massive waves, caves, and lava rock formations. For guests staying longer, this is a must-see!
To get to Solheimasandur, you will park your car in a lot and hike to the wreckage, which is situated near a black sand beach. It takes 45 minutes to an hour, each way, to reach the wreckage. The hike is 4.6 miles total on flat terrain. It sounds like a lot, but we REALLY recommend doing it - the hike is otherworldly, like you are walking on the moon.
Reykjavík is a great city to walk around and explore. If you are only in town for one night, Rúblan Bókakaffi (bookshop by day, lively bar by night) and Íslenski Barinn (a delicious Icelandic restaurant) are two of our favorite spots. We recommend Rúblan Bókakaffi in the evenings for live music, but there are plenty of other great places to check out along the Laugavegur street stretch.
Check out the Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur hot dog stand in downtown Reykjavik (or the airport on your way home). We recommend getting yours “with everything”.
Hlemmur Mathöll, located in Reykjavik has a collection of food stalls and bars all under one roof. We recommend the Atlantic Cod or a Bánh mì sandwich.
