Garvan Woodland Gardens, the botanical gardens of The University of Arkansas, is nestled in the picturesque Ouachita Mountains of Southwest Arkansas. Get a true experience of what the Natural State has to offer: a canopy of pines reaching skyward, gentle lapping waves that unfold along the 4 ½ miles of wooded shoreline and rocky inclines that remind us of the surrounding Ouachita Mountains. There are countless picture opportunities, numerous waterfalls, multiple bridges and beautiful flora and fauna. Additionally, a small cafe and giftshop are located on the property.

Bathhouse Row

The Bathhouse Row is a historical number of eight bathhouses constructed between the years of 1892-1923 and are rich with history. This area along with the Grand Promenade was designated as a National Historic Landmark District in 1987.


The Fordyce Bathhouse is a popular, must-see attraction- Totaling approximately 28,000 square feet, the Fordyce is the largest bathhouse on the Row. It has three main floors, two courtyards, and a basement under most of the building. The Bathhouse today functions as the park's visitor center.

Situated on 21 wooded acres, the award-winning Mid-America Science Museum provides abundant opportunities to explore the sciences through interactive exhibits all while taking in the beautiful flora and fauna of the Ouachita National Forest. Make sure to check out the prehistoric DinoTrek adventure and The Bob Wheeler Science Skywalk. Additionally, there is a gift shop on site.

Hot Springs Mountain Tower

The Hot Springs Mountain tower elevator will transport you 216 feet to the observation decks where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Ouachita Mountains, Hot Springs Mountain, and Diamond Lakes area – all at 1,256 feet above sea level. Two ways to get there - Either take the beautiful scenic drive to the parking lot or hike the 1.5 mile trail from Fountain Street.

March-October open daily from 9:00AM-8:00PM.

Lake Catherine State Park

Lake Catherine State Park is situated on one of five lakes in the beautiful Ouachita Mountain region. The only full-service marina on the lake is here at the park and open in the summertime for bait, snacks/drinks, and fuel. The park also includes a launch ramp, pavilion, picnic sites, playgrounds, and a well-marked trail that leads to a waterfall. The park has 20 fully equipped cabins and 70 campsites, as well as many native stone and wood buildings on-site. Guided horseback rides are offered seasonally. Though not required, reservations are recommended and to make horseback riding reservations only call 501-262-0777.

An incredible treetop zipline experience through the ancient forests of Hot Springs. See Arkansas from a bird’s-eye view! Also, the Treetop Aerial Adventure Course is a fun challenge high in the trees! The 16-element challenge course includes a series of swinging bridges, hanging vines, cargo nets, and more that take you progressively higher into the treetops. Since they base their staffing on reservations, it's strongly recommended booking in advance. You can book a tour online or call 757-216-9891. Minimum age for ziplining is 8 years of age.

Magic Springs is a fun-filled theme park packed with rollercoasters, thrill rides, family rides and children's rides. It also boasts an exciting waterpark where you can experience thrill water attractions, racing down waterslides, lounging in the lazy river and more. There is also a splash island for kids and cabanas to rent.
