What time does the ceremony start?
The ceremony will start promptly at 6pm EST. Any guests not inside of the ceremony hall will not be permitted in until after the conclusion of the ceremony.
Can guests take pictures and videos during the ceremony and reception?
The bride and groom kindly request that you be fully present with them during their wedding ceremony. To ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the moment without distraction, they ask that you please turn off or silence all electronic devices, including cell phones and cameras, and refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony.
Please know that the couple has hired professional photographers to capture all the special moments of their wedding day for them and their guests!
While they are having an 'unplugged ceremony' the couple encourages you to take lots of pictures and videos during the reception and share them on Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #RiveraEra!
Is there a dress code for the wedding?
MaKayla and Shawn ask that guests come wearing ALL BLACK. This will be a formal event, they ask that guests come 'dressed to impress' with ladies wearing formal black attire and gentlemen wearing a black suit and tie. During the reception guests will be encouraged to change into their best pair of sneakers in honor of the Bride and Groom and their love for sneakers!
What is the RSVP Deadline?
The couple asks that guests have their RSVP responses in no later than May 29th, 2024!
Are children allowed at the wedding?
The couple welcomes children to their wedding celebration! They understand that it can be challenging to find childcare, so they want to make sure that everyone in your family can join them for this special day.
I'm bringing my child, what do I need to do?
MaKayla and Shawn are thrilled to celebrate their special day with all of their loved ones, including the youngest members of your families! They understand that attending a wedding with young children can sometimes be a challenge, so they want to make the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for everyone.
To ensure that parents can fully immerse themselves in the ceremony, they will be providing free on-site CPR certified child care during the 45-minute ceremony, just a few feet from the ceremony. This service will be available for children 5 years old and younger.
If you'd like, you can even meet, or speak with the child care professional beforehand to address any specific concerns or provide any necessary instructions.
MaKayla and Shawn understand that some parents may prefer to keep their young children close during the ceremony. For this reason, they will have a designated room where the ceremony will be streamed live. Parents who feel more at ease staying with their child can join them in this room.
To assist the couple in making adequate arrangements, please kindly notate on your RSVP form if you plan on bringing a child!
Is there a gift registry available?
You will find the gift registry for gifts and monetary gifts on this website under the 'Registry' tab.
Can I bring a plus one to the wedding?
The couple kindly requests that guests refrain from bringing additional guests, unless specifically stated otherwise on your invitation, additional guests not cleared through the proper channels will NOT be accommodated. This is a strict invitation only event, only guests that are on our approved guest list will be admitted into the celebration by security- there will be no exceptions.
Is there a Preferred Travel Agent?
During their travels, the bride and groom have worked with an experienced travel agent that has been equipped to help guests with their travel accommodations. Lateshia Murphy with 'Travel with Classy' will be on standby to assists guests with booking flights and, or hotel accommodations. Working with her will allow guests to put a down payment, and make payments leading up to the wedding which allows guests to break up paying for their trip! Is there a hotel block reserved for wedding guests?
Yes! The bride and groom have taken the liberty to find and secure a hotel block at a discounted rate for guests that is within a reasonable distance from the venue. More details can be found under the 'Travel' tab of this website.
Can guests make special requests for the reception menu?
If you have special dietary constraints (ie, allergies vegetarian etc) the couple asks that you notate that when filling out your RSVP response.
