Amritsar, Punjab, is a major tourist destination and the spiritual and cultural center of Sikhism. It's home to the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), one of the most important religious sites in Sikhism. Amritsar is also known for its food, hospitality, tourism, carpets, handloom fabrics, and handicrafts.


Some famous places to visit in Amritsar:


• Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib): The most iconic landmark of Amritsar and the spiritual heart of Sikhism, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. The stunning golden architecture surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar (pool of nectar) draws millions of visitors worldwide annually.


• Jallianwala Bagh: A memorial garden commemorates the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, a tragic event in India's struggle for independence. Thousands of innocent people were killed on the orders of General Dyer as they gathered for a peaceful celebration of Baisakhi.


• Partition Museum: A museum dedicated to the memory of the partition of India in 1947, offering insights into one of the most significant events in South Asian history.


• Gobindgarh Fort: A historic fort that has witnessed many chapters of Indian history. It offers insights into the military and cultural heritage of Punjab.


• Wagah Border: Located on the border between India and Pakistan, this is where the famous Wagah Border Ceremony takes place every evening. It's a patriotic and lively event showcasing the ceremonial closing of the border gates.


• Durgiana Temple: Durgiana Temple, also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, is a Hindu temple located in city of Amritsar, around 1.6 km from the Golden Temple. It bears a stark resemblance to the famous Golden Temple while also carrying the same sense of peace, tranquility, and spirituality.

You can have the taste of Aam Papad from the very famous shop Ram Lubhaya, famous Poori Chana from Kanha Sweets, Indian special sweet Jalebi and Gulab jamun from Amritsari's famous Sharma Sweets and Bansal Sweets. (which is 22 minutes away from Le Meridian.)
