Marcus & Valeria

FIRST DATE?

Our first date was in the Lima Peru Temple! When we were inside a lot of people thought we were married hahahaha. When leaving the temple Mar gave Vale a lollipop ring hahaha. It was so sweet! Then we went to lunch together at a restaurant right by the temple.

FIRST TRIP?

We traveled to Cajamarca, which is 7 hours from where Vale lives. It was one of the most romantic experiences ever!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE DOING TOGETHER?

So many things! Some of them are:

Our night routine (we read together, we give thanks, and share things we love about each other), we love to watch series (our favorites are The Chosen and Friends), we like to go out for ice cream and go to the movies, Vale likes to give Mar facials (skincare routine), and Mar likes to sing for Vale until she falls asleep (Falling Like The Stars). We like to play loud music and dance, go on dates where we do something new, and we also love to lie on the grass and find shapes in the clouds.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF EACH OTHER?

V: The first time I saw Mar I had the same feeling I have when I see the ocean, I felt at home.‎

‎ ‎ ‎

M: When I met Vale I immediately thought she was a very intelligent girl and had a lot of life wisdom. I recognized the bright light she carried with her and I could tell she was a very happy person. And to be honest I thought she was too beautiful and cool and way out of my league haha.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW WHEN YOU WERE IN LOVE?

V: To be honest, it was shortly before we started our relationship. Mar invited me to a Zoom meeting where he shared a message at church, and as I listened to him share his testimony and feelings I was completely sure of his love.

I think if a woman understands the gospel and the purpose of our life here, she will wish for a husband that will put the Lord first. I feel assured knowing that he's that kind of man.

M: I remember one night when Vale and I had a call. It was the longest call I'd ever had in my entire life and during that call we talked about everything. It was amazing how I was able to connect with her and her experiences. I remember her telling me some lessons she learned during her life: patience, forgiveness, faith, and especially the love of Christ. That night I heard the most beautiful testimony my ears have ever heard in my entire life, and I was amazed by her wisdom and the love she expressed through her words. I think that was the moment when I fell in love, not only with her, but with her beautiful and sweet spirit that she carries with her.

I still fall in love with her every day. I fall in love with her laugh, her hugs, the way she takes care of me, the way she loves every living thing, especially animals, how she serves and how she loves me. I know that every day of our life together I am going to fall in love with her because she truly is the love of my life and I feel my love for her grow every day.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE DATE NIGHT ACTIVITY?

Going up to the roof, bringing blankets, food, stargazing and talking a lot about our goals, dreams and things in the future.

HOW DID MARCUS PROPOSE TO VALE?

A day before the special moment, Mar told me that he would not be able to talk during the night because he was going to be traveling through the mountains with his mom and he wasn't going to have a signal. I was a little sad but I told him that it was ok and that we could talk the next day. But the truth was that he wasn't actually in the mountains, he was taking a flight to Peru.

The next morning I talked only a little bit with Mar, and because I had some free time, my sister asked me to go with her to a photo shoot on the beach. But before she took me to get my nails done and did my makeup (I didn't really feel like doing any of it because I was said that I hadn't talked to Marcus for a long time and I missed him). When we finally got to the beach, I saw my amazing boyfriend running towards me, I froze, I had an explosion of feelings in me.

We hugged very tightly and then we walked along the seashore for a while. Suddenly in the distance, I saw a huge heart of roses, a red carpet and a path of roses and petals. There were also the letters that spelt the word LOVE. When I realized we were heading in that direction, I looked and saw my parents, Mar's mom, my sister, my aunt, and a photographer. It was so much more amazing than I could have ever dreamed or imagined. Marcus is always full of surprises. I think everyone who knows him loves him for how noble he is and I am so blessed to have him in my life.

WHAT’S THE MOST MEMORABLE ADVENTURE YOU’VE HAD AS A COUPLE?

For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to walk down from Machu Picchu (to the town of Aguas Calientes). To make a long story short, we walked in pouring rain, with the worst sneakers in the world, no lunch, a dog following us (Vale named him Antonio), and our train for Cusco was about to leave. Although it took a long time, we made it in time and got to sleep for the rest of the day.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD TO COOK/EAT TOGETHER?

Definitely Lomo Saltado

DESCRIBE THE OTHER PERSON IN 3 WORDS
