In a part of the world, where love stories rarely connect, lies the story of Mar and Vale. They didn’t meet in high school like in typical love stories, or in the rain, or even on a summer vacation; This story began in the least expected way:

Mar and Vale, both missionaries, were assigned in different parts of the world, he in Lima and she in Brazil; Until this moment the chances of a meeting seemed almost zero, but destiny had different plans for them.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it changes and reassignments, now each one had to serve in their own country: Mar returned to the US and Vale was reassigned to a mission in Trujillo, Peru.

As we know, the normal thing would have been for them to finish their missions in those places, but this is where a surprising twist of fate occurs: Vale received another reassignment to Lima, Peru and on the other hand, Mar was extended the invitation to return to his original mission, being the only North American who would return to Peru in the middle of COVID at that time (we mention this because the fact that Mar returned was something that still surprises us due to the restrictions on foreigners in Peru).

And speaking of destiny and perfect coincidences, the day their paths finally crossed was October 19, the same day Vale finished her missionary service. Mar, as a mission assistant, was there when she needed help with her suitcases. A simple gesture of courtesy became the beginning of a story that would change their lives forever.

The chances of them coinciding in time and space were minimal, considering the immensity of time and space. However, sometimes, love overcomes logic and leads them to find themselves in the same coordinates, as if the universe conspired to bring them together.

More than two years have passed since that day, and we continue to marvel at that meeting. Now we are eager for the future, and we look forward to the month of April 2024, where we will promise to continue traveling together but now as husband and wife for all eternity.
