The story of how this particular 'West Virginia boy' found his place in Calgary, Alberta is too long for this short space. However the pivotal plot point is that his journey really began when he met the love of his life in 2012. He first saw Mardi at her parents place and looked at her and said to himself - I am going to get that girl.

Jacob Lackman 

While Mardi grew up in rural Priddis, west of Calgary, her love of travel has taken her to the far corners of the globe. However, her heart finally found it's home when she met this good looking guy Jacob while he was out at her Priddis ranch. It was Jacob's superb diving and horseback riding skills that first caught her eye but that it was his personality that instantly won her heart.

Between busy lives, Jacob and Mardi love traveling, skiing and getting out to enjoy the ranch with their dog "Arlo". Four years later, little did Mardi know, the last horseback ride of the year would lead to a surprise proposal. Good thing they were off the horses when he popped the question, as her scream could've added another level of excitement to the event! They are thrilled to be officially tying the knot at the Banff Springs on July 8th.

The Banff Springs has wonderful accommodations and is where we will be hosting our wedding. These rooms are on the more expensive side and sell out quickly. Banff during the summer months is very busy. 2017 in particular will be even busier than usual do to Parks Canada waiving park fees. The town Banff is located in the Rocky Mountains on Alberta's western border with British Columbia. Banff is about an hour and half driving distance from Calgary, via the TransCanada Highway. For a stress free commute, you can grab the Banff Airporter Shuttle, departing from the Calgary Airport between 10:00am and 10:30pm. Upon your arrival, you'll find the ticket counter located inside the airport between exit doors 5 and 6 at area "B" of the main arrivals level. They are conveniently located between Tim Horton's and Starbucks!

For those that would like to drive, there are many options for car rentals at the Calgary airport. Please feel free to search Kyak for the best deal. Banff is an hour and a half drive west of Calgary. There are many scenic stops along the way to enjoy the views and wildlife, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy.

The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and First Nations exhibitions.

Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885 in the Rocky Mountains. Banff National Park

Lake Louise, named Lake of the Little Fishes by the Stoney Nakota First Nations people,[1] is a glacial lake within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It is located 5 km (3.1 mi) west of the Hamlet of Lake Louise and the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1).A variety of hiking trails exist around the lake. Hiking trails include trips to Saddleback Pass, Fairview Mountain (2,744 m (9,003 ft)), Mirror Lake, Lake Agnes, Big Beehive, Little Beehive, Devils Thumb, Mount Whyte, and Mount Niblock. Some of these trails are open to mountain biking and horseback riding, and the surrounding mountain faces offer opportunities for rock climbing. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities during summer, and a boat launch and rental facility are maintained on the north-eastern shore.
